Windows 10 Upgrade an ASUS Laptop (32G storage)

I have the same problem, I was told by my friend that you should uninstall the windows 10 update that you currently have and then install the newest version of Windows and if that doesn't work, then I am sorry for wasting your time**.**

Your friend makes it sound so simple. Clearly it is not or there would not be so many disgruntled users posting on this forum.

For anyone that has purchased this laptop from a Windows Store; i've had this 32gb ASUS laptop about 1.5 years and i am getting this same damn upgrade request and problems as mentioned here in this thread.

I went back to the windows store on the weekend and they have advised that they will handle doing the fresh install for me as long as i don't mind if everything is erased... not like there was room to save any thing on this POS anyways. 

I'll let you guys know how it goes; the product adviser said they will try to install the newest windows 10 on it with the latest updates and see if that helps. Its free of charge; and i'll keep you guys updated if this fixes anything.

The windows store i went to is in Calgary, AB Canada.

A techno geek friend of mine has done this for me too.   I wanted to revert to Windows 7 (and had disks) but the insidious nature of Win 10 overrode the process and after saying it would revert, it wiped all my add-on software and installed a new Windows 10. 

I now have the latest and greatest version of windows 10  - no more Update Assistant messages and after re-installing all my software I even have spare disk space (9GB from 42GB).  

I had resigned myself to the fact that I should embrace Win 10 (as Win 7 will no longer be supported in 2020) but I didn't like the way it was forced on me.

It is worth the effort in the end but I cannot believe how complicated it was to get there.

Can someone tell us whether I can do a clean install of Windows 7 On the Asus E200HA? I have spent days and weeks trying to install the latest updates. I had a perfectly good little laptop until the 1709 update came out. Now it is unsecure and near useless. I can not even do a recovery to enable me to sell it.  Appalling Microsoft!

But the info on how to install a WIN 10 update using an external connected flash drive to the PC  computer will work as long as one can keep the host PC powered on.

The upgrade from something else to Win 10 seems to have provided the option to connect an external memory or device.

My laptop came with Win10 version 1511 that expired in oktober 2017.  The update to a newer version is impossible.  If I delete everything I almost get 6 gig free space but it needs 8. 

Now, if it would work, I would not bother but the dhcp fuction doesn't get an IP address anymore and that's a bug in the old Win10.  The only way it works is to put an IP address in there manually.  That trick works at home but I don't need it at home :-)  It is ment for traveling and last week I had an ultrafast high speed connection in Holland but no internet, also not with an ethernet cable.  I had to use my phone to check my mails.

So probably a new laptop will be needed.  This one is 1.5 years old and like new....  It's crazy.
