[Partially Fixed] Intel + NVIDIA Laptop Freeze Problem

Actually i dont satisfied gtx 1060 performance they told us its like a desktop version but there is a big difference desktop version performance i wondering it can be happen windows 10 or maybe another problem ? 

The GPU Die is exactly the same as the desktop counterpart(except for the 1070), problem is the GPU clock, Bandwidth, and power draw have been reduced to prevent overheating.

The GTX 1050 is the closest performer to the desktop version GTX 1050, but with higher end GTX models the "Gap" between the laptop version and desktop version gets wider.. The difference between the laptop version of the GTX 1060 vs the desktop version is quite wide, that's why the laptop version of the GTX 1070 has MORE cuda cores than the desktop version to prevent that "Gap" from getting larger.

Windows 10 a problem? Well, Microsoft says that with Windows 10 you will get a better and improved gaming performance... is it true? Well, YES to a certain point, with Windows 10 you get smother FPS without many frame drops, the Thing is if you compare your hardware like I have with Windows 8.1 and 10... Windows 8.1 will get higher benchmark scores, than Windows 10, not to mention a frame or two more in in Windows 8.1...

Example (MSI GT70 GTX 970m)

Win 8.1 3DMark11 = 9752 Graphic Score

Win 10  3DMark11 = 9378 Graphic Score

Example (HP ENVY 15 GTX 850m)

Win 8.1 3DMark11 = 4887 Graphics Score

Win 10  3DMark11 = 4221 Graphics Score

(Keep in mind there is also a noticeable difference between Win 10 1507 compared to 1709)

"Another problem"  well here's were it gets interesting, and what made me switch... with NVidia Optimus you have to remember the GTX card has to pass the data through the display controller, that's WHY the NVidia Optimus HAS to be working properly, otherwise you might experience lag, frame drops, or just simply low performance..

Installing Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update 1703 Download (Build 15063.0) – Available Editions from http://windowsiso.net/

block all updates from MS via win+R - services.msc 

then do manually installing of all drivers for Intel/nvidia/chipset

test system for lags and reply here because i need more info.

if you can record video via you'r phone with build name.....

I am not sure how to make it but i belive we need check and intstall one after one KB file with updates to find this point with making system laggy.

Do you even read previous post when you comment? I guess not, let me save you the trouble ALL VERSIONS OF WINDOWS 10(1507-1709) has issues with NVidia Optimus, If you've read the previous posts it would of saved you a lot of time. Since Windows 10 was released mid 2015 it had issues with NVidia Optimus, problem was the freezing was minimal, so people barely noticed, and if you do a deeper search you WILL find post about NVidia Optimus issues with Windows 10 dating back since 2015....

I picked up the HP OMEN 17 with the RX 580, AMD's FreeSync, Thunderbolt... etc all the good stuff, and well what can I say, all issues have disappeared, not only that, the graphics have doubled in performance, (for anyone wondering the RX 580 is a hair line above the GTX 1060) 

So can you tell if the dGPU is always on in the OMEN 17? or does it switch on and off without a hiccup during windows simple operations such as right click --> display settings...

The HP OMEN 17 by default has the Intel graphics disabled out of the box, and there is no way to enable it in bios, which is a great thing. This laptop DOES NOT have "Optimus" remember that's a feature for laptops with NVidia cards only, NOT AMD.

There is ZERO delays or freezes(yes even if I right click and select display settings, clicking on the battery icon.. nada on the latest update in Windows 10), and yes the dGPU always stays on, even if the laptop is running on battery saver or running on battery power, and to be honest its amazing what AMD has done I'm impressed, with the laptop running on battery power, I got to say for a 17 inch notebook it gets great battery life.

(Normal Laptop usage, watching a YouTube video, wile posting a reply here)

14 Inches? why soo small? what's your laptop model? yeah you're right, AMD Doesn't offer anything ATM, for laptops smaller than 15 inches, hopefully next year.
