Hi,
there is a problem with laptops which have Intel iGPU + GTX 1050/1050Ti/1060/1070. The problem is whenever you perform some action on the OS, discrete GPU is triggered and it causes a 0.5s freeze.
Some actions, which causes the dGPU to wake up and lock up the whole system for about 0,5 seconds are:
Since the problem was OS based, it could be found on all laptop brands: ASUS, Acer, Clevo, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI, Razer.

With the latest KB4284848 the problem is partially solved. The community and I have tested the build and we can confirm that it fixes most of the freezes.
There are still some problems though. Some freezes left within the Edge browser
and File Explorer. Please post your feedback!

To be honest, I made the same mistake and bought laptop with GTX 1070 Max-Q for gaming. Games doesn't work properly, because of Windows 10 ****, for example Destiny 2 don't even launch on 1803 (worked great on 1607 LTSB or 1709) and so on, and so on. I'm still thinking about selling my laptop, it's still only 1.5 months old and use my fast as hell old Lenovo laptop equipped with SSD for daily use, and gaming PC with AMD Ryzen and Vega.
Has there been a time before that another issue this big occured? Thousands of people having their laptops crippled?
I m suprised that there isnt a lawsuit against Microsoft. They literally crippled our laptops and we are begging them to fix it? I mean come on what is this? I lost 1300 euros because of Microsoft. I could have bougjt a cheap used thinkpad but decided to buy a gaming laptop. I wish i knew before that the software was incompatible with the hardware. I feel angry with my self not making enough research and because i believr easily yourubers reviews. I am angry with my self for takiny for granded that Windows would be compatible.
What seems weird (and concerning) to me is that they're trying to fix the little freezes one by one. There's a myriad of them scattered throughout various places and UI elements, and chances are we're gonna keep finding new ones as time goes on. And instead of trying to find and eliminate the root cause of it, they're trying to fix the symptoms.
They fixed the UAC freeze? Okay but then File Explorer takes 5 secs to open. They fixed that (they didn't but let's say they did)? Okay, what about the freeze that happens every time I open the clock? Or the notification center? Or toggle Bluetooth? What about the stutter and cinematic 24 fps I get occasionally (!) when I connect an external monitor? Or the stutter I get in taskbar jump lists? None of this happens on my much slower non-dGPU laptop (that ends up being faster because of this).
There's a ton of them, and fixing a few of em one by one won't do any good.
Nothing to do with this. Your dGPU is faulty. You need BGA reballing.
I don't know if this will work for anyone outside of those using Gigabyte laptops (or how efficient it is) but I downloaded the WakeupGPU and it fixed the stuttering across the board. It's probably keeping the dGPU idle but I haven't seen a terrible drop in power efficiency yet. Maybe this might help others until MS actually drops a real fix.
WakeupGPU not good. Take a look at task manager when it is running: you'll notice that it is continually running at >0% and consuming energy. + No way to exit if you want to save battery power after install. I'm sticking with TrayPwrD3. It runs at close to 0 (0%) most of the time in task manager + you can exit any time if you wish to save power and restart later.
