Malicious Software Removal Tool in Win10 Home won't run

Hi Wayne.

Exhaust fan cannot be blocked with dust or anything like that.

The Laptop is only 4 months old.

And as I mentioned, the fan runs normally now.

I definitely take your point about restore points.

It's something I definitely need to do.

And why MRT is working all of a sudden? I don't know.

A lot of information to respond to.  Glad we are back to square one!

1. I don't use mrt in the run box much....but I know it's there if I choose to use it.  I realize the mrt is not working for you currently, and that your computer does not recognize you as Administrator.  This is what we are trying to solve.

2.  I don't use a third party anti-virus.....Windows Defender Security Center is enough for me.....but let's not get into that right now.

3. I use Malwarebytes Free 2.2xxx, MB anti-exploit free, MB anti-ransomware Beta Free, and SpywareBlaster Free.  Periodically, I run AdwareRemover from MB and JunkwareRemoval tool from MB all free.

4.  Exhaust fans running excessively can indicate that you need to blow the dust out of your laptop....might be overheating.  'Google' blow out dust from your lap top....for YouTube videos showing how.

5.  I understand you are fond of MRST and we will try to get it back for you.  It has something to do with your computer not recognizing you as the Administrator.

6.  Restore points need to be considered.  After each Windows Update, a restore point is created automatically.  You can restore to an earlier point in time (if you have good restore points and not a lot of partitions on your HDD) ......you would lose June's Updates but they could be reinstalled....not a problem.  But do you have good restore points that you could revert you, before you started experiencing you Administrator difficulties.

Perhaps you have had enough for one day?  Need a rest?  I'm glad we're back to square one.

How exacerbating.

All I've done (and I did do this before) is that I've run that net user admin command.

I should add, that I ran: net user administrator active:yes

And then ran: net user administrator active:no immediately to disable the Admin login.

And just for the hell of it, I thought I would run the MRT.exe file, that I had placed on my desktop; copied from the System32 folder.

And what do you know, it's running now. As you can see below:

Not totally satisfactory, because we don't know why it stopped running, and now it is.

And will it do it again???

I'm running a full scan now, and already it;s reporting that it's foind some infected files.

So, why don't my other anti-virus software find these?

And what is it finding?

My desktop is back to normal.

I appreciate you say that the tool runs in the background and will report if there's a problem.

But, when I was running it manually, it would report that there were 'x' number of infected files found.

So, why did my Anti-Virus software did not pick these up?

I have Avast and I have Malwarebytes installed. None of them reported any problems.

However, the issue still is, that the tool is not running and reporting that the System Administrator is stopping it from running.

This tool clearly (in my opinion) does a good job.

The fist time I ran it was to try and find out why the exhaust fan on my Laptop seemed to be running excessively, for no apparent reason?

I ran the tool, it found and deleted some infected file (so it reported) and after that, the exhaust fan has been running normally.

Whenever I used this tool to do a full scan, 90% of the time, it would find infected files.
