I will reply to my own response. No, my problem is still not fixed. If I leave the rar and firmware folder in the htdocs folder, than the update will fail with an unknown error (because the htdocs folder does not have chopacaproduction rar). If I add the chopacaproduction rar into the htdocs folder, than the Zune is giving me the exact same stuff that I was getting yesterday. According to this finding, I will need to either buy a new Zune 30GB that hopefully has the latest firmware installed, or I will look elsewhere to find a new mp3 device (Sony Walkman or an Apple iPod).

Maybe the Zune downloaded one of the other firmwares and not the firmware based off of the code name. I will leave the Keelbaseline rar and firmware folder in the htdocs folder of the Abyss Web Server and see if it has any affect on the Zune 30GB device.

It would seem that we are still seeing failures? Without a way to tell the Zune its updated, which is purely a problem with Microsoft not making a server available out of its millions of servers to support the millions of products sold to consumers and still in the market, these things are effectively small bricks.

Microsoft has made its money selling these at retail. As one of the people who believed in Microsoft and bought one of these at retail, its hard to put your faith in other new Microsoft products. All the remaining devices have fuses of indeterminate length, you just don't know when they will fail. This end life support actually has an impact on selling new products.

Pardon me but this is what is called a "lack of customer orientation". Do we have any explanation for the error encountered? It would be greatly appreciated to see a response.

    Thanks!

OK,  I have a 30GB Zune. I am having a hard time trying to install the 3.3 firmware for my device. I followed the instructions. The Zune program passes the first 2 steps without any problems. However, when doing the third step, the Zune will try to boot, get to a please wait screen, and then shut off, and turn back on to boot, please wait, shut off, and turn back on in a never ending pattern. Is there a way to fix this, or do I need to get a new Zune. Thank you for any help.

First of all, thanks to Francisco! Well done sir! Sorry to be coming late to this party.

I have used this discussion, the video, and all I can find on the web and I feel that I'm very close to getting my Zune 30 to work but something is still off.

The file referred to, no longer seems to be available. I have found other files elsewhere and that is what I'm using, though they may be the issue.

I connect the Zune and get "Required Update". I click "Accept" and the update starts to run.

It says update is running, gets to step two, Copying to Device and gets to 25%. It stops there for a while and then gives me an error, C00D11CD (80070079) and says the device wasn't updated.

So it appears I'm successfully connecting to the Zune and the update is starting but not completing. I can only conclude I don't have the correct files? It feels like I'm very close and it only needs a minor tweak but for the life of me, I can't figure out what it is.

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!
