New firmware update for Lumia 950/950 XL: 01078.00038.16025.390xx
Hey all,
we have started rolling out a new firmware update for Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL: 01078.00038.16025.390xx. Key improvements in this release include:
- Stability fixes.
- Improvements for GPS reliability.
- Improvements for call audio quality.
The availability of this update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. At the time of writing this post, the update is available mainly for selected open market variants, but the rollouts should continue gradually during the coming days and weeks.
Windows 10 is updating continuously, so make sure you follow all the update notifications that appear on your phone. To check for updates, you can also tap Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. For detailed update instructions, see.
If you are a Windows Insider user, see. Note: this does not affect general firmware availability.
To read more about the new features included in Windows 10 Mobile, see What's New in Windows 10 Mobile.

2016-02-04T16:43:38+00:00 Check out this article on Window Central from yesterday:
Quote:
"The only semi-confirmed area is Germany, non-ISP variant, but Microsoft has noted that "the rollouts should continue gradually during the coming days and weeks."
There is also no response from Microsoft on the update nor what the firmware fixes.
We all need to stay tuned and keep using the "Windows Insider" app to verify any available fast track updates.
I am not an insider and not on the AT&T circuit...so not carrier dependent and get updates as MS rolls them out to standard users.
Thank you

2016-02-04T16:43:04+00:00 why can't MS just release it for AT&T 950s? Make it available to Insiders or a separate application that at least takes some effort to apply instead of just OTA. With only 1% and declining market share, what does MS have to lose?
Because it is not microsoft's product at that point. they'd get in legal trouble. they can't change other people's products.

2016-02-04T16:26:01+00:00 I'm tired of this carrier dependent approval process BS. It's rubbish. If I can buy an unlocked 950/XL, throw my AT&T sim in it and use it fine without AT&T throwing down some sort of ban hammer, then why can't MS just release it for AT&T 950s? Make it available to Insiders or a separate application that at least takes some effort to apply instead of just OTA. With only 1% and declining market share, what does MS have to lose?
It's way beyond time for the carriers to simply become dumb pipes.
