New firmware update for Lumia 950/950 XL: 01078.00053.16236.35xxx

Hey folks,

We are starting to rollout a new firmware update today for Lumia 950/950 XL: 01078.00053.16236.35xxx. Key improvements in this release include:

  • Wi-Fi connectivity improvements, including fixes for Wi-Fi connection dropping randomly and Wi-Fi scan occasionally not returning any results.
  • Support for double tap to wake enabled.
  • Bluetooth connectivity improvements.
  • Stability and reliability improvements.
  • Camera improvements, including improved image and video quality, improved Auto-focus and fix for a problem that was causing slow motion capture to skip frames for some users.
  • Cellular connectivity improvements, including fix for a problem that caused occasional network loss for some users.
  • Audio quality improvements, including fix for a problem that caused voice call audio to get scrambled for some users.

The availability of the update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. Starting today, the update should become available for the first batch of phones and the remaining ones are expected to receive the update gradually.

Windows 10 is updating continuously, so make sure you follow all the update notifications that appear on your phone. To check for updates, you can also tap Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. For more detailed update instructions and troubleshooting, see.

    Same here. I have an unlocked 000-GB (059X4T8 - RM-1085 VAR EURO A1 CV BLACK) and still don't have the firmware update. Has MS forgotten about us??

    MS has been releasing the firmware update for the WDRT for those that have unlocked phones.

    Like myself that has an unlocked phone through Windows store and use it on T-Mobile's service will not receive the OTA update since T-Mobile does not support the phone. This is a carrier fail not Microsoft's fail.

    I think those of us on 4T8/9 are stuffed. Although unlocked, the CV in the model number is obviously Carrier Variant. That's what has got me upset. My 3 950's got it last week, OTA, and on same network as my XL's

    Same issues here, but I am stumped as my business has 3 950's, all sim free but running on 02 network, and update arrived last week. My 2 XL's, also sim free, using 02 sim, not got it!! D'oh! MS were hopeless when I asked, so looks like Im looking for another FW.

    I am at exactly the same situation. I bought an unlocked 000-GB (059X4T8 - RM-1085 VAR EURO A1 CV BLACK) and I moved from 3 to EE specifically to get the WiFi and VoLte calling options (3 is offering these services only to limited numer of devices running iOS and Android os). It's a month since the new firmware 01078.00053.16236.xx has been pushed to Scandinavia an most of the continental Europe - but it's still not available for 000-GB or 000-FR.

    I will wait another week, and will proceed the same way as you, if Microsoft will not perform an action.
