Battery drain while in sleep mode (Windows 10)

Hello

I have an Asus GL551. It original had Windows 8.1 on it but I upgraded to Windows 10 a few months ago. Ever since it has been running Windows 10 the battery will drain completely within 10-12 hours while in sleep mode. When it had Windows 8.1 this was not an issue. There would still be plenty of battery power even after a few days of not being used and in sleep mode. 

I suspect that is is coming out of sleep mode periodically and draining the battery. Just the other day I had been watching a YouTube video. When It finished I closed the lid of the laptop putting it to sleep. About two hours later, with the lid closed the laptop started playing the Youtube video all by itself. I had not touched the computer and the lid was still closed.

Any ideas?

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply. I have tried the suggested troubleshooting method and tested the device usage for a few days, but the device still has high CPU utilization and it also NEVER, EVER....EVER enters into (DRIPS) Deep sleep.

    The device is a low powered one with the Intel Atom Chipset, 1GB RAM and 16GB Storage, with a 15,751 mWh battery. It is the iView Suprapad i800QW.

    If the issue can be helped that would be much appreciated.

    Hello everyone,

    The issue that I am concerned about is the battery drain of my Windows tablet since upgrading to Windows 10.

    The battery does not last nearly as long as it did with Windows 8.1 and it has greatly impacted the way that would used my device.

    I have used the batterycfg energy-report and sleep study to find out that my device never enters DRIPS (Deepest Runtime Idle Platform State). In fact the device has a change rate on average of 600mW to 900mW, which should never have been so high. rather it should average near the 120+mW range.

    Also the I have a system required request during sleep by a driver: ACPI\80860F28\1  Intel SST Audio Device (WDM) which prevents the device from going to sleep as well as unusually high CPU utilization which keeps the tablet's batter drain higher than usual.

    I have been waiting for a fix for the sleep and battery drian issue to be addressed by on of the Windows Updates but to no avail so far.

    I would like to know how I can reduce the CPU utilization for the specific process that are active and the drive that prevents the tablet from going into deep sleep.

    Does anyone else seem to have tis problem. Leave a reply with any other experiences that you might have on the matter. Thanks for listening.

    Hi, I have Dell 5547 Windows 10. I recently updated my drivers using the device manager. This led to fast battery drain in sleep and hibernate. I never had this issue before. My computer used to be on hibernate or sleep for more than 3 days!! Can you help resolve the issues.

    I did what you told me and the only error I got was that the screensaver is disabled.

    I think I have found the problem though. I think it has to do with the Intel drivers. I decided to uninstall it completely. Not sure if it worked. Tonight I will charge it completely and see how it wakes up in the morning. But I do have another question. I did a another test that can tell you why your pc has trouble sleeping. It was a command via cmd. But it gave me the following report called Power Efficiency Diagnostics Report. I don't know what it means and how to get rid of the errors.

    I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5547 and i upgraded it to Windows 10 in July. Recently I've found that the battery always drains even after i shutdown it properly. I t would be 100% charged at night and in the morning it would be at 3%. My battery plan is on balanced. Yes, I have tried all the other plans. The Dell power manager lite says my battery life is excellent. I have change the power button to shutdown. I have uncheck turn on fast startup. I have run the Hardware Devices troubleshooter. I have run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe). Everything is fine. Changes I have made is I have downloaded the softwares Driver Booster 2 to update drivers and Advanced SystemCare 8. I have also updated the Intel drivers via Intel Driver Update Utility 2.0 and the firmware via the Dell Support Site.  

    I have run diagnostics via the Dell site and everything passed. I have read nearly every single thread on this forum about this issue and none haven't help me. Like seriously I'm getting tired now.

    Plus I found that my laptop couldn't wake up from sleep mode many times since the upgrade. I have to completely shut it down by pressing the power button. 

    Does anyone has a solution to these problems?
