Update for Windows Live Essentials Mail 2012 (KB3093594) kills WLM 2012

Have been using this program for months now on windows 10 32 bit, and I get an email saying that MS are making changes to Outlook servers and to patch WLM 2012 and a download link.

I applied the patch and now after a few seconds of being open WLM 2012 crashes while updating the calendar.

Anyone know a fix for this? I have taken the patch off by repairing Windows essentials 2012 from the Programs and features dialog, but anyone know why this patch causes WLM to crash after a few seconds?

Tim

After updating to 16.4.3564.1216. (latest patch) I did a test email from a WLM 2012 Hotmail account (normal setting) to a Hotmail (IMAP), Outlook (normal setting) , Zoho & gmail (both IMAP) and to myself.

I have WLM 2012 set to check for new emails every 1 minute (as it is not connected all the time I am using my PC)

    Test 1

I noted the email left the WLM 2012 Outbox after 8 seconds but NEVER APPEARED in the SENT Folder. I went online and it was showing in my SENT Folder

All emails received between 1 and 1:45 mins (I assume the time differences are due to WLM having to check several accounts one after the other.

    Test 2

I did the same test 5 mins after the first

    Left Outbox after 9 seconds

All emails received between 1 and 1:45 mins BUT THIS TIME an entry appeared in my WLM 2012 Hotmail account SENT FOLDER HOWEVER as with the first patch it STILL reports it was sent to MYSELF so that issue STILL exists in the latest Patch. It also took almost 2 mins to appear in the SENT FOLDER

    Test 3

I did the same test 5 mins after the first EXCEPT I sent it from my WLM 2012 outlook account.

I got the same results as Test 2

ONCE AGAIN as with first Patch I can confirm that when an email is moved from the WLM 2012 Hotmail or outlook

Sent Folder (showing sent to myself) to a WLM 2012 LOCAL FOLDER it then shows who it was Sent to CORRECTLY (also always showing correctly when looking online in Outlook.com)

In all 3 tests deleting the test email from the inboxes of the Hotmail and Outlook accounts moved immediately to their respective Deleted Folders and when deleted from those Folders they disappeared immediately

I am a little worried that Test 1 result (the worst) was different for Test 2 & 3 and my Test 1 reflects Mogojohn's finding.

This suggests to me an inconsistency issue which is NOT a good thing. The Sent Folder reporting also really needs to be resolved quickly as we do not want to open properties for each sent email to confirm where it went.

Once again I point out I do not sign on live when I launch my WLM 2012 and I do not use or sync Calendar or Contacts with outlook.com online so I cannot test those aspects.

Hope thse finding are of assistance to all and MS techies working on the patch

"Emails sent using WLM on Windows 10 don't appear in Sent items, but do appear in the outlook.com Sent folder".

    Same issue in Windows 7
---

Despite the file details in the KB article, the re-issued patch d-Mail.msp updates Windows Live Mail 2012 and its program files to version 16.4.3564.0916

The KB article still doesn't mention Windows 10, but the statement you may find that the program crashes soon after startseems to indicate that the revision addresses the stability problem that Windows 10 users have faced, since this only seemed to happen on Windows 10. I don't have a test rig handy, so I can't find out whether this is the case.

    Files are 16.4.3564.1216.

The new update did fix the stability problem on Windows 10.

Emails sent using WLM on Windows 10 don't appear in Sent items, but do appear in the outlook.com Sent folder.

I have applied patch KB3093594 to my Windows 7 Ultimate Mail Essentials, bringing it to build 16.4.3563.0918. I have had no problems, except that Checking Mail now takes 1 minute where it used to take about 10 seconds. This happens at startup and when I select Send/Receive.

No one seems to have reported this problem yet - they all had worse problems. I hope my problem also gets resolved when this mess is sorted, without me being forced to move to a later release. I have run a WLM repair but it made no difference. I gather the patch to the patch only applies to Windows 10.
