Many users of Windows Live Mail 2012 have received an email under this heading from the Outlook Team advising them of the changes that are taking place at Outlook.com as accounts are migrated to the same platform as that used by Office 365. Apart from advice to switch to using the built-in Mail apps on Windows 8.1 and 10, users are instructed to apply the patch KB3093594 . A few points to note: The change means that migrated accounts can no longer be synchronized using the old DeltaSync protocol. To synchronize these accounts, users can set up the account again to use IMAP . This will enable mail messages and folders to synchronize, but not the calendar and contacts. The patch enables support for Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) to be used instead of DeltaSync in Windows Live Mail 2012 on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 (see System requirements on the download page). Mail synchronization errors can often be cleared by removing the account, closing down the program and waiting a few minutes, then re-launching it and adding the account back again. We don't know what is going to happen with Windows Live Mail 2009 on XP and 2011 on Vista. It is clear that users will no longer be able to sign in with a migrated account to synchronize contacts and calendar, and they won't be able to synchronize mail messages and folders using DeltaSync. Whether the programs will continue to work in other respects (e.g. as a POP3, IMAP and NNTP client) remains to be seen. Apart from this question of synchronizing mail, calendars and contacts with a Microsoft Email account, there is no change now or in the foreseeable future for Windows Live Mail 2012. You can set all browsers these days as a icon linking direct to your inbox and store your password and set it up as 2-step authentication allowed program. Firedog, Please Help! I have Windows 10 and use Windows Live Mail for my @Hotmail account. Thinking like most people I installed update KB3093594 thinking that it would allow me to keep my WLM account active with my @Hotmail account. Now I am having nothing but issues and I just want to get back to where I was before the update was install. Here's the steps that have taken Deleted my account on WLM, rebooted computer and attempted to re-add the account. It did not work. Email would not sync. Uninstalled WLM and reinstalled it using @Hotmail option. That didn't work either. Inbox and Folders appeared, but kept receiving Unknown Sender Banner on every email. Even for contacts in my safe senders list. Deleted account and uninstalled WLM again. Rebooted computer. Installed WLM and added @Hotmail account using POP3. The update can't even be downloaded to my system but reading some of the comments (on this and another thread) it sounds like I'm lucky it didn't. The message I received specifically noted that it would impact my @hotmail.com and @msn.com email accounts. I had these linked (that may not be the right word--I'm blonde folks, be nice) to my WLM along with an @att.net email account. If I read the message they sent me correctly, after they change things I won't be able to get the hotmail and msn through WLM anymore. What will happen to the att address I don't know. Since there wasn't any info in the message that they sent about exactly when the change will happen I don't even know how urgently I should be trying to deal with this. I'd love to hear from someone in the same situation as me and find out what they plan to do.

Firedog, Please Help!

I have Windows 10 and use Windows Live Mail for my @Hotmail account. Thinking like most people I installed update KB3093594 thinking that it would allow me to keep my WLM account active with my @Hotmail account.

Now I am having nothing but issues and I just want to get back to where I was before the update was install.

1. Deleted my account on WLM, rebooted computer and attempted to re-add the account. It did not work. Email would not sync.

As a Vista user I'm guessing this just leaves me more or less out in the cold. The update can't even be downloaded to my system but reading some of the comments (on this and another thread) it sounds like I'm lucky it didn't.
