Disabling Windows Compatability Telemetry

Avoid disabling CompatTelRunner except as a temporary measure to improve performance. It can be temporarily stopped through the task manager. It will restart when accessing a network.

My experience, the Compatelrunner will hog disk time and affect performance (jerking mouse motion, stalled programs) after installing a major update or just before an important update.

The computer will run normally again after several hours or longer when the program and virus scanner completes their inventory processes.

 

I'm thinking maybe a Class Action lawsuit may get this fixed? Been an issue for 3+ years...

   DO IT.. You'll have lots of others leaping on the wagon...

Same problem here - telemetry using 10-30 % of CPU in Windows 10.

I've

• disabled Connected User Experience and Telemetry
• set GPO policy to minimal, only send security data (can't disable 100%??? why?)

This should be a setting in Privacy. Why obfuscate it? Why to trickery needed to remove? Why Microsoft, why?

Tried to follow what you previously  but didn't find the subkey:

I mention I have already a win 10 Home version 1703 x64 installed on my machine.

I would like to disable /  stop the Windows Compatability Telemetry (CompatTelRunner.exe) from starting and don't know how to.

Actually MS' telemetry gets triggered with any install.  Nvidia's GeForce Experience now has there own Telemetry.  So when it wants to update your drivers, MS' get's triggered too, double whammy!
