Disabling Windows Compatability Telemetry

Does anybody know how to stop the Windows Compatability Telemetry (CompatTelRunner.exe) from starting? It causes extremely high disk usage which results in large performance issues.

    That's a great idea. I'll do that next time windows reinstalls compattelrunner.

    I replied 4 posts back with a method that will probably fix this, you have to deny permisions rether than just delete it.

    I have tried this and it worked for me until the next microsoft update which put it back!!!!!!!

    No, simply deny the system permission to run it or modify it. Believe it or not windows respects permissions as far as I've seen, even though they are enforce by windows itself.

    Oh, then we should replace it, say, with dummy program (in c: int main(){return 0;}). But anyway the updater , systemFilesCheck or whatsoever may in future complain about "wrong/missing file".. Why can't Microsoft provide a legal way to totally get rid of this file?? (((
