Quiet Hours in Windows 10 Mobile

I recently upgraded my phone from the Nokia Lumia 1020 to the Nokia Lumia 950.  It came preloaded with Windows 10 Mobile.  While I am still learning to navigate the operating system on the phone, although it seems easy since I run Windows 10 on my PC, I am having difficulty with using the Quiet Hours function.  Using Windows 8.1 on my old phone allowed me to set up Cortana to block all calls during times when my calendar had been marked as busy.  This was great as I would just put my classes into my schedule and my students never heard my phone unless it was an emergency.  However, now it seems that the only way to set up Quiet Hours is to manually tell the phone to turn on the QH function or set it up for specific times regardless of my schedule.  It seems funny that this function went backwards when everything else went forward.  Is there any way to do it like I did before?

I appreciate your patience in this regard.

Quiet hours will turn on automatically at the times you've set. But you can still turn it on manually. When you go to Quiet hours setting it will give many flexible options that allows you to customize Quiet hours accordingly. Sat for example, you can set date on which the phone should enable the quite hours along with Start and End time. Basis to which Quiet hours will turn on automatically.

It also allows you to Edit break-through list. Where you can allow the emergency calls from desired contacts. Moreover Cortana will also send text to contacts who aren't allowed through, saying that I'm busy at the moment.

With regard to the desired task or event sync from the Calendar app, I suggest you to post your feedback using Windows feedback app, which will helps us to look into this with future updates. This will helps us to improve your experience.

    Quiet Hours no longer activates/deactivates automatically on my 950XL since last few updates.

    I just wish the Quiet Hours function would actually work on my Lumia 560.  Have had all the previous issues in this thread, I thought the latest Win 10 update had finally solved it.  No joy, despite setting every visible thing up correctly, callers on the break-through list simply do not break through when quiet hours in in operation, whether automatically or manually.  I've looked as far as I can to find any overlooked additional setting, to no avail.

    One thing I have noticed is that when going to edit the breakthrough list, it takes about 16-18 seconds before anything appears and about the same time again before I can scroll through it or add or subtract to it.  If the same effect occurs with an incoming call, no wonder it doesn't work!

    Thanks for responding, Stewart. You are spot on. Hesitantly. I have meanwhile moved on and switched to Android. I set up a patchwork there that gives me the feature abandoned by MS. I linked my cloud-based Outlook calendar to a Blackberry calendar app which works on Android, and somehow my phone turns in-out of meeting mode every time I label a calendar event as busy. This works whether I initiate the event in the Blackberry app or in Outlook. They all seem to sync nicely - touch wood. I am tired of chasing MS for features. My conclusion is they don't care. They are making their money in other markets and pursuing grander dreams.   

    Thanks a lot both of you for understanding. Actually wp8.2 did allow me to set priority for each individual appointment. Not only that, the options for breakthrough were a lot more customer friendly. The "knock knock" feature was invaluable for emergencies. I wonder why the upgrade is less capable than the previous version. 

    I have to agree that ms is not really interested in being competitive any more. Look at how they handled the to-do app. Most 3rd party apps are more capable and communicate better with the calendar and Cortana. The app is extremely clunky. So much so that the dates on different screens of the app don't even match each other.
