I had the same issue before when I accidentally enabled Cortana and after that everything was just a mess in my win10 and I hated it so much that I thought of reverting back to win7. I've read through a lot of forums about the same issue and I found
a lot of workarounds to solve it. The only thing that worked for me was running ctfcommon.exe
To do that just go to RUN (press WIN + R) command and then type c:\Windows\System32\ctfmon.exe then OK.
you should then be able to type in the search bar or start menu after doing that. however here's the catch, as soon as you turn back on the PC it'll stop working again so you have to run the program again. So what I did, I added the program to the
startup items manually.
to do that just go c:\Windows\System32\ctfmon.exe and then select the program, right click, select send to Desktop (create shortcut).
the program should then be created in the desktop folder.
Select the program, choose cut or copy, press Win + R to open RUN command then type shell:startup. a new window will open so paste the CTFmon program for it to be manually added in the startup
programs. to verify that you've added it successfully just right click on the taskbar,
select task manager, select startup items in the tab then you should see there CTF loader as enabled.
Hope this helps!
