Fixing 100% disk usage in Windows 10 with Chrome and Skype running

I am not a huge user like you obviously are. 

My daughter upgraded her 4 year old HP with an AMD A8 processor right after Windows 10 came up and has had no problems at all. Used it at College.  We watched Zootopia last night with no problems on it. 

I brought my 2 year old HP with an AMD A10 processor to a Microsoft Store to have them update from 8.1 to 10 for free, right after Windows 10 came out.  The disk usage since then has always started at 100%, and has always come down to 1%, stayed around that within 3 minutes. HP Health software could be helping this problem. 

I upgraded my 3 year old Acer Netbook to Windows 10 from Windows 7.  It worked fine, better after I put 2 GB of memory in it.  Then I broke the screen, got an older Acer Netbook from Ebay for $25, (shipping included), that did not have an adapter or HD, and used the ones I had.  I put 4 versions of Linux on the hard drive of that Netbook, that I use for McDonald's. 

I upgraded a 10 year old Toshiba that had Vista, however, it ran way too hot, so I went back to Vista. 

New laptops are working fine with Windows 10, as an HP Rep I sell them w/o these types of problems.  

It is hard for me to complain when Microsoft gives a user Windows 10 for FREE, and a Month to revert back to Windows 7, 8, 8.1, if they don't like it. 

If you want to be real geeky about all of this stuff, and need to use a Microsoft Office product, one can always put Linux on, (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu - whatever LOL!), and use a Windows Operating System through the Oracle VirtualBox.  It works very well! 

I have done this stuff, I can do this stuff, but I am going to keep it simple...and use Windows 10 with a smile.

Had a similar issue. I was using Windows 10 on a boot camp partition and the solution turned to be updating to the latest 1511 version. It didn't update automatically because of an issue with Iris graphics card which can be resolved by the post below.

I recently had this issue and i tried every fix i could find and none of them worked.

After 3 days and 40 hours of working on it i found that going to C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download and deleteing every file in it the disk usage went down to 0% instantly.

Hope this helps anyone who had problems like me.

There are 2 issues discussed here 1 how to reduce disk usage which doesn't solve anything. The OS manages that by slowing things down.

2 THE BUG This happens when the disk is at rest.  It switches on the 100 % warning and the computer freezes for a long long time. The machine is useless during this period. To bypass this I keep the disk active by playing a movie in the background.

Oh yes I have.  This usually resolves the problem for a couple of weeks. Then the problem is back as new. 

As  said i am not going to waste more of my working time on this. Is ms cannot resolve this I am not going to play the car and mouse game. 

As I said this problem is alive for a long time now. It bothers my client for months. 

I have already started reverting installations back to Windows 7. Already counting 150 installations more or less.  Already feeling less problems. 

Let them trying to sell the new os.
