I recently purchased a custom built pc packed with windows 8.1 which I upgraded to Windows 10.

I installed Age of Mythology yesterday and when I try to run the game nothing happens. I have tried all compatibility suggestions and I get the same result.

I also have this same problem with black and white 2.

I have a NVIDIA Geforce gtx 980 graphics card installed in my pc.

Can you provide any suggestions please.

Thank you.

Share all the general dissatisfaction with Microsoft over this but... I've managed to get both AOM and AOMTTE working. Neither would run from their shortcuts and still won't but in desperation I tried opening AOM from the start menu by right clicking and running as administrator and hey presto! it ran. I then pinned the AOMTTE shortcut to the start menu and did the same thing - also ran. Go figure. I should add that I had previously added them to my steam library without success. I have no idea how or why this worked but might be worth a try for those who are desperate.

For those with same version, I got it to work. (Windows 10 64-bit)

It's the version with one CD with AOM and Titans Expansion.

I almost didn't try with the depressing mood here lol.

Process: (any of these steps could be unnecessary, I include them all)

    Enabled DirectPlay (in Windows 10)

Put CD in, opened it to find AOMInstaller.

opened properties of AOMInstaller and put in in Win XP SP2 compatibility.  Checked run as Admin box. (16 bit colors too, but the game allowed without)

    Ran the installer.  No problems.

Did not try the shortcut on desktop.

Found the aom application file in Program Files (x86)

properties...XP service pack 2 compatibility, run as admin

    run. success. conquest.

I don't know if the disk security was not included on this version.  But maybe it will help someone.  My computer was recently wiped because of the anniversary update MBR FUBAR catastrophe.

Replying to you since you look frustrated. Compatibility issues are always a problem, games, software, tools.. whatever. You need to by pass the protection of the game.. get a cracked EXE.. you own the disc so its not like you are breaking the law. Use Google to help your self out.

Yes this is not ideal... but you are trying to play a 10+ year old game on brand new software.

    Good Luck buddy!

I eventually had to go down the route of downloading a no cd cracking which I was really hoping to avoid for obvious reasons.

I had tried all other possibilities suggested by people on this thread along with also trying to test sign the secdrv driver with no success (Windows 10 blocks the test signature).

Thanks for this suggestion by I would still appreciate some support from Microsoft providing a viable solution to this to avoid people potentially opening themselves up to mallard issues that might be packed in no cd cracks.

I have tried clean boot up with no success. AOM: GOLD is definitely on the Windows 10 compatibility list as compatible.

I downloaded the additional driver as mentioned but still no success.

I am going to try opening explorer as administrator then install and run game again to see what happens. Going to try this as this worked with windows 8.1 when I had similar issues installing Visual Studio 2012.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys. I will let you know how I get on.
