It may or may not but that question is not an issue as they are not presently installed.

Your computer has not been maintained properly so I am trying to rectify this short coming.

2. also since my problems have been with installing .Net updates - and me having unlimited free internet - would it be brst just to remove .NET and then install fresh?  Instead of messing with device drivers and doing chkdsk and whatever else will be suggested later?

For both problem devices type Device Manager in the Search box above the Start button and press ENTER. Locate and right click on the device and click on Uninstall in the drop down list. Restart your computer.

I don't use EasyCleaner - but why remove both that and PT X?

They have registry cleaner and optimiser components. Both interfere with the proper operation of the operating system and are quite possibly contributing the problems you have. It is software you just don’t need.

I do actually prefer the system Information file to be in safe mode. Fortunately you did not remove the first copy of the files you obtained.

Type Device Manager in the Search box above the Start button and press ENTER. Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? If yes what is the Device Error code?

To see Hidden Devices (Non Plug and Play Drivers) you need to select View, Show Hidden Devices. It is necessary to do this every time you open Device Manager if you need to see them.

A further complication can be Ghosted Devices –installed but not connected!

Select the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + R, type Appwiz.cpl and press the ENTER key. Place the cursor on EasyCleaner, right click and select Uninstall from the drop down menu. Restart your computer.

To view a copy of a chkdsk report select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window expand Windows Logs and select Application. Place the cursor on Application, click Filter Current log in the Action column on the right of window. Use the scroll to the right of Event Sources to select  and check the box before Wininit and click OK. A list of all reports recording the results of running chkdsk is displayed in the centre of the window. To clear the list click Clear Filter in the Actions column.

Please run System File Checker and say if it cannot fix corrupted files. Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click Command Prompt, and click Run as administrator from the drop down menu.. Type *cd* and press ENTER. Type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes and press the ENTER key. Please restart your computer, allow 30 minutes for the system to run before uploading further information so that the impact of making changes can become apparent.

Please upload and share with everyone fresh copies of your System and Application logs from your Event Viewer to your One Drive and post a link here. You can remove any earlier copies of the logs from your OneDrive.

To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window expand Windows Logs and select System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log. Do not provide filtered files. Do not place the cursor in the list of reports before selecting Action from the menu. Do not clear logs whilst you have a continuing problem.
