Windows update KB3004394 issues

Windows update KB3004394  causes the following issues on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system:

All MMC functions (Event Viewer, etc.) now require Administrator action, although in an Administrator account.

Windows Defender service will not start

The Windows Defender Service Terminated with the following error

%%-2147023113

Removing it  returns the system to normal.

Anyone else experience this?

    I just got fed up with microsoft BS and their ineffectual fix update and found and uninstalled it on view installed updates.

    I too have seen that it successfully installed, yet do not find it in the installed list.

    Has the issue with the update been resolved?

    Apparently, yes. A revised version was released earlier this month:

    Article ID: 3004394 - Last Review: 10 February 2015 - Revision: 3.0

    The system files seem to be unchanged from the previous release, so the fault must have been with the packaging as Tom Sweet pointed out above. I've not seen any resurgence of problems from those who will have received it as a regular update last Patch Tuesday.

    It's been a while since the last post here, but I'm still getting the KB3004394 listed as an important update, after having uninstalled it per prior recommendation.

    Has the issue with the update been resolved?  Because when I tried to install the KB3024777 update to fix the original issues, it simply didn't work upon execution...which ultimately led me to uninstall it manually.

    If the problems with KB3004394 haven't been resolved, is there no way to get rid of that incessant reminder to install it?  At present, I've had to shut down the auto-install option until I can find some answers.

    Anyone able to confirm KB3004394's integrity?
