Windows update KB3004394 issues

Windows update KB3004394  causes the following issues on my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate system:

All MMC functions (Event Viewer, etc.) now require Administrator action, although in an Administrator account.

Windows Defender service will not start

The Windows Defender Service Terminated with the following error

%%-2147023113

Removing it  returns the system to normal.

Anyone else experience this?

    Solution is to uninstall the patch KB3004394 (...) Then uninstall VirtualBox. Reboot and reinstall Virtualbox and system is now running. 

    Not my experience. Uninstalling the patch, then rebooting the system fixed all Virtualbox problems for me. Windows 7 Pro x64 EN here, almost a fresh system, all other updates still installed.

    I just sync'd my WSUS server and yes, KB3004394 has been "expired" for Windows 7 and Server 2008 r2.

    Yes, I can confirm that my WSUS server has declined this update too. Would be good to get some official word from Microsoft after all this chaos they've caused.

    Several issues here after this KB3004394 installed :

    • Virtual Box can't load any VM
    • Virtual Keyboard not working anymore
    • System Integrity broken => the command "sfc /scannow" says that some files are corrupted

    I have uninstalled this update and now everything is going fine

    Had same problem - no Virtualbox after patch installation (on Windows 7 64bit). Thought that it might have affected Virtualbox, so tried various things, including uninstalling and reinstalling Virtualbox.

    Solution is to uninstall the patch KB3004394 (thankfully this is one that can be uninstalled). Then uninstall VirtualBox. Reboot and reinstall Virtualbox and system is now running. And then (in my case - may not be relevant for you, go back and disable the VirtualBox Host-Only Network as this seems to cause problems with some of the network routing).

    Along the way noted that a repair of VirtualBox did not seem to work correctly.

    Sorry, I don't know about that, was just confirming that removal of this KB did in fact fix the UAC issue.
