Google Hangout for Windows Phone.

Hello Microsoft,

Recently I wrote to Google to provide Hangout app for Windows Phone. In reply they said that they are willing to provide Google Apps if device manufacturer are ready to collaborate with them in development process. Following text is copy of two paragraphs of their reply.

Unfortunately, when developing an app for a third party device we need the collaboration of the manufacturer.

Like in the case of Mac we worked side by side, also with Ubuntu and other Debian based Linux distributions.

Together we achieved the apps their users enjoy now, as well once the app is developed it needs to follow

the manufacturer's store approval like any other app developed for them. As you can see by visiting

In the case of Microsoft we are more than willing to develop the app, we would love to support that market

share which is vast increase potential customers to use their mobile devices.

With Microsoft we've achieved the use of hangouts through their Desktop environments so far. But, we need

you as their mobile customer to present the need of the use of Google Apps in their mobile phone's so they

can support the development of mobile apps on their devices. We want to serve you in whatever device you

choose to have, but this can only be accomplished through the device users to convince the device

manufacturer to collaborate to develop an app from us.

I would love to see Google apps on my windows phones. Could you please communicate with Google, to bring Hangout and other apps to Windows Phone.

Me, personally, switched from Windows phone to Android only because of hangouts

I truly believe it's all about commercial strategy. Google wouldn't like Microsoft to have hangouts on it because in this case Google would lost lots of clients. Yes, Microsoft has Skype with an ability to call and etc but it's a bit bulky and heavy, especially when you use it as a phone app

Has anyone that used hangouts tried the app in the store?

Yes I am aware what Google did when Microsoft tried to build YouTube app. I need Microsoft's official reply to this thread so that I can put response back to Google.

Hi.. I know this is pretty old.. But I'd like to know the current status of this. I love the Windows Phon environment and would like to have google apps on it too!! Please let me know whatever progress you had in talking to Google about this!

there are awesome youtube apps on the store. much better than what you would get from google. don't bother with this, google will NOT make anything for the windows store unless they have to (in the miraculous event that the market share rises to high numbers).
