KB3035583 Installing Windows 10 using Windows Update?

My computer has not been updated at all since July and it's never worked better, I removed this unwelcome update + Windows 10 installer and quite a few others ,then blocked any further update

Since then Microsoft have tried by emails and windows 10 propaganda to get into my computer ,but I just delete anything and everything they send me

I still use their standard system security upgrades but that's it

Why oh why are the competition not seeing this as an opportunity to really grab a huge slice ,if not all of Micrsofts market share

Its as if Microsoft have had enough and are just inviting people to take their business,

Nobody seems to want windows 10 ,yet they keep trying to impose it on the world ?

Why does Microsoft so desperately want us to love Windows 10? Perhaps it is because once Windows 10 is the only available version of Windows, Microsoft will announce that Windows 10 will become subscription only (i.e, customers will have to pay an annual fee in order to use Windows 10). That's only a guess on my part, but it seems to be the next step into making Windows a service.

If implemented, will be the biggest boost to Linux ever, and it will kill Office too.  Many of us already do not like Office 365 for its subscription model.

And I have been a Windows user and booster since Windows 3.  I don't like Linux but will not pay a subscription to use my paid for computers.

Interestingly, I did "permanently" hide the update KB3035583 and KB2976978 due to their obtrusive actions.  Oops, windows update pushed KB3035583 to me today even though I had blocked it.  Even worse, in the previous update push they tacked on Windows 10 as an optional update with the check mark in place.  If I had not looked it would have installed!  Not happy about that.   I am trialing Windows 10 on my other laptop to see what issues come up.  I may decide to add Win 10 to this laptop but I will retain Win 8.1.  Windows what are you doing pushing things out that people do not want.  Not a good way to keep customers.  I was just starting to trust you again and now you do this.

Would you please tell me how to prevent the installation of KB3035583 in my computer and if it is already installed, how to remove it?  Also, are there other updates that we need to be concerned about that enable this behaviour?

KB3035583 now appears as an Important update in Windows Update and is checked which means it will be automatically installed if the user does not uncheck it.  If automatic update is set, it will install without intervention.

There are credible articles that say that Microsoft either has installed or will install changes to my computer that will enable Microsoft to use it as an advertising platform and then install Windows 10 without first obtaining an informed decision to do so.  I truly hope this is not true.

On behalf of my clients and their 162 Windows "consumer" computers, I must tell you that we do not grant Microsoft or any other vendor the right to do this.  When other Windows players do this, we regard it as malware and take great care to remove it.

Microsoft got to where it is today by selling Windows.  We have spent decades learning how to use Windows and billions of dollars buying Windows computers and Windows software.  We own these systems.  They are ours, not Microsoft's.

Windows Update has earned a huge trust.  We trust Microsoft to use Windows Update to keep our computers safe and secure.  When Patch Tuesday comes along we install all the updates that Microsoft says are "important." We assume those to be either plugging a security leak or fixing a software error.

We all hope Windows 10 will be something we will want.  We will carefully review and consult trusted advisors before we install Windows 10.  We have seen Windows 8 and rejected it.  Windows 8 is a bad product we did not choose.  

Automatically installing Windows 10 on our computers would be a severe abuse of a well-earned trust.  Changing our computers to enable them to become advertising platforms is also an abuse.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium and found this update very annoying. I uninstalled it from the Control Panel > Programs and Features > Installed Updates, and hide it from update list when next time its notice appeared.  

However, one hour later, it automatically came back to my system again. Even my Windows Update was set to "Notify me but do not automatically download or install".

Such behavior of KB3035583 is nothing differrent from a malware. 

I simply don't like Windows 10 and don't want to see any Win10 notifications. Nor did I participate in any insider program. I can not understand why MS promote Win10 in this way. Each time I see GWX.exe on my computer, I like it less.

Dear MS - it's about the CUSTOMER & ETHICS. 

I love reading the replies on this thread and can appreciate everyone's frustrations.  What gets me is that no one from MS weighs in anymore.  Also, I am dismayed by MS in sending malware (unwanted & unsolicited programs by definition) to force extinction of W7 & W8/8.1, building W10 with little regard to default privacy settings, using your bandwidth to supply update files to other people, and forcing updates with no customer choice; they usually send about 20-25 updates the same day every month.

My son upgraded from W8.1 (because he hated it so much) to W10.  It did not transfer his emails and he can find no way to import those files into the new system.  Time to revert.

My daughter needed a new laptop for college....and we got her a MacBook - she is VERY happy with it.  Those will be the next computers for our family.

I started a job in high school.  The first thing I was told was "the customer is always right".  It's been that way ever since in all jobs of my career in the busienss world.  Ethics are another important aspect to providing a service.  I am providing a service for someone and if I don't take their needs into consideration or if I am not trusted, then I am doomed. 

IMHO, if MS is neglecting the needs of a large segment of their customers and behaving in an unethical manner, their shareholders will be hurt as the ultimate market share shifts to Apple.  10 years from now this will be a great subject for a MBA thesis paper on what hurt (or destroyed) MS.
