Solitaire on Windows 10

Solitaire was on my (purchased) copy of Windows 7.  When they "upgraded me" to Windows 10, they took away access to Solitaire!!!  This would not be a problem if Microsoft had not continually nagged me/ threatened me to update to 10.  (Free upgrade available for a limited time!!!)  Since they removed support for 98, I have no doubt they intend to make life difficult for 7 users that don't update "soon".

So yeah, Cassandra, I figure they owe access to an ad-free solitaire game that I don't have to jump thru hoops to get...including sending me here to "learn how to get Solitaire".  This is obviously generating lots of bad feeling.  Hope they're happy with their profits, since they can't feel good about the "service" the 10 upgrade represents.

You're right.  My apologies to all.  The future is Windows as a Service, and I forgot.

It was pointed out to you previously that the thing you're complaining about wasn't introduced "...with this new operating system."  The games were eliminated starting with Windows 8.  This whole thing isn't new in general; try using the Android Google Play Store without a Google account, or the iOS equivalent without an account.  The games are still free, and it amuses me to see the drama--replete with references to the classic literature--over such a small and inconsequential turn of events.

If you use a Windows PC the chances are you already have a Microsoft Account.

It's really hard to get the most out of Windows without a Verified Account.

This includes logging in to your PC with Windows 10.

And I can find nothing that says Microsoft owes us free games on top of a free Operating System.

I'm rather old so I probably have a different set of values. I'm used to paying for what I get so when someone gives me something free I'm appreciative.

Yes that is what I said. Once you sign in either via the gamertag or  your Microsoft account it signs you into the game automatically after that.

Or you can use one of the many different versions of Solitaire available free from the Store that are not Xbox apps.

Regarding the first point, what of folks who either refuse to use a Microsoft account or don't want to create Yet Another Account regardless of how few times successfully doing so removes the constant nagging and pressure to do so?  It is very much akin to paying the danegeld.

Their only options are to cave in and do what they shouldn't be compelled to do (what they should only do on a deliberate and well-informed decision without persistent interstitial nagging), to endure the trouble of finding and installing a suitable competing product regardless of the relief-bringing reward doing so offers, or to endure the trouble of removing that which should never have been installed in the first place.

Regarding the second point, while I agree completely that installing just about any other solitaire app is the best workaround, it overlooks the fact that this is an out-of-box experience problem with this new operating system.  This is the heart of every complaint to Microsoft about Solitaire in Windows 10 that I have seen and which I share.
