Age of empires II won't work via windows 10

So I was playing age of empires II other day while using windows 7 well upgraded today to windown 10 and now it won't run the start up menu starts but I click play now ... and nothing.how can I fix it

    The easiest way it's apply this patch to your installed game.

    Just follow the instructions to install the v 1.4 patch.

    Before install make sure that you are using the original game with the original disk in your disk drive.

    Works fine for age of empires 2 gold edition.

    Loads and loads of time spent to search an answer for this tedious problem.

    Waste of time.

    Every little bit of "Official Microsoft Support" answers and suggestions on this topic is a time waster. I'm sorry to say this, but it is unfortunately true. NONE OF IT WORKS!

    The original CD version of AOE II gold edition (Microdoft game studios / Ensemble Studios) can not run under Wintendo10.

    Somewhere in this tread a knowledgeable forum member tells us to download a patchfile from this website :

    http://userpatch.aiscripters.net/

    It is the filename "UserPatch.v1.4.20150723-000000.zip" which contains an executable "SetupAoC.exe"

    This file will patch the "EMPIRES".EXE" to run correctly under Wintendo10.

    (Be sure to read the guide on the website)

    Also you are given a choise select of some nice extra game features, before the patch is run.

    And then ! The game suddenly springs into life on the Wintendo10 desktop !

    Only thing you need is to select the correct display size in the game options menu.

    I am really disappointed, that Microsoft could not by themselves find such a solution.

    For the crash dummies : Wintendo10 = Windows 10

    Dude the game is not compatible with 10. Stop your nonsense about rebooting. It one of my all time favorite games and I can't play it anymore...

    It didn't solve the issue I might just restore back to windows 7 where I encountered absolutely no problems. Unless there is another way
