Hi, I receive this error code when i try to open Windows Defender and it says: An error as occurred, in the program during initialization. If this problem continues, please contact your system administrator. Error code 0x80073afc. And in the Action Center it says that Windows Defender is turned off.

my doubt about this is that my laptop is 3 years old why would it all of a sudden be this residual programs plus do I have to purchase a removal tool
You don't have to purchase anything. Sometimes it takes a year or more for the "leftovers" to suddenly cause problems.
