getting error 0x803C010B while runing printer troubleshooter

Original Title: Can't Troubleshoot - get error 0x803C010B

My printer suddenly stopped printing today and when I run the troubleshooter I get the above error 0x803C010B

I've tried everything - uninstall, re-install, update drivers, configure using TCP/IP - nothing works. The printer always shows offline since last windows update.

Sorry for the delayed response.

For all of those who are using network printers, the reason for the issue to occur can be due to SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). SNMP manages devices on a network. Some Printers may not support this protocol, because this obtains the printer's status regardless of whether or not they support SNMP, although it only supplies simple status information for those devices.

I suggest you to disable the SNMP option from the printer properties. To do that please follow the steps below:

Open Control Panel.
Select Hardware and Printers option.
Right click on the Network printer (your printer).
Choose Properties.
Go to the Ports tab and choose Configure.
Uncheck SNMP Status Enable option.
Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

There was as recent update that allows the firewall to let Epson Print inside. With the amount of attacks that Norton stops, I'm happy to have to figure this out safely and patiently.

My error cleared up after I discovered it was caused by a conflict between a ZyXel PK 5001Z combination modem/router (supplied by the DSL provider) and a Linksys wireless router which I purchased for a beefier WIFI signal. I had turned off WIFI on the ZyXel, but after shutting all gear down to avoid power issues in a windstorm, the ZyXel went back to factory settings and the two devices began fighting each other over their IP address. The Brother printer never changed its own static IP address, but lbecause of the router conflict, my WIndows printer settings got hopelessly confused.

After being told to hire an IP technician to solve the configuration issue, I shut down the Linksys router and am actually doing okay with the ZyXel. Deleted the Brother printer settings from all computers, rebooted, and mapped to the printer as a series device, and we're humming right along.

Hello,

I am using an HP1515n colour laser printer, made sure the TCP/IP address in the printer matches the name in the printer driver port configuration.

Also tried to uncheck SNMP, which does not help, also tried to use Raw output instead of LPR protocol, also makes no difference.

I have a simple modem/router in one, so no conflict can occur there. Only other devices in my network are a DS213 with a diffferent IP address, and a Philips BDP9700. This device was added twice, one time with same IP address as printer. I removed the duplicate device, without the wanted effect.

Please help?
