KB2919355 (Windows 8.1 Update) Fails (800f0092 and 80073712) on Windows 8.1 Pro w Media Center

The point is: the update failed and it rolled back. No harm done to my current Windows install.

I can happily keep using my computer until Microsoft fixes the problem.

If the failed update makes your computer run slow however, I understand this is more frustrating but this was not the case for me.

Some people here really need to take a chill pill.

I totally respect and understand your position. Many people who

use their PC to surf the Web and update social media would better wait

and calm down.

But if you use your PC as your main production tool, things are very different.

I believe that IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE that Microsoft hasn't fixed

this major issue yet! Windows 8.1 Update was realeased on April 8th.

After 5 days, the situation is still the same.

On top of that, for many many users the failed update made their PCs very slow and unreactive.

That's why some users, like myself, struggled/are struggling on

this issue and spent/are spending tens of hours of work to try to solve

this.

Thank goodness I found a solution, which I shared here (see above), and I'm glad my solution is working for quite a few people.

But Microsoft really did an epic fail with this Windows 8.1

Update, they have no excuses, and I hope they will publicly apologize

(but I am afraid they won't).

Again, if a fully functional and fully reactive PC is not a must

for you or other people, you'd better not waste your time and wait for

Microsoft to provide a solution :-)

I would like to state that the above didnt work for me. The packages is not installed on my system, so how can I remove it? The whole problem is about installing KB2919355. It will simply not install, so how can you people find it and remove it with DISM? How did it get installed in the first place? Running the above mentioned script and skipping the /remove-package line does not lead to success for me.

Have you tried my method? It does not imply using command prompt. I am pasting it below for your convenience:

In fact my method does not imply using the command prompt at all, but simply to roll back to a previous system restore point (prior to the first attempts of installing Windows 8.1 Update). The advantages are that the system restore to a previous point should take care automatically to remove all traces and remains of the failed install attempt.

After that, you might try to manually install all the components which make up Windows 8.1 Update.

Don't use Windows Update since it will corrupt your system again!

Use the single standalone install packages instead (.msu files),which you can download from the Microsoft web site from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=42335

IMPORTANT: Before doing that you must ensure that KB2919442 is installed on your system, since this is a pre-requisite to install Windows 8.1 Update.

If it is not installed, first of all install that update from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=42162

IMPORTANT # 2: You must ensure to follow EXACTLY this installation order:

KB2919355, KB2932046, KB2937592, KB2938439 and finally KB2934018 (some users pointed out that KB numbers might vary. These KB#s apply to 64 bit systems. If you have a 32 bit system they could be different).

IMPORTANT # 3: After installing each one of those, you need to restart your PC. Please note that the biggest one - KB2919355 - can take a lot of time for full system restart, just allow Windows to complete all necessary post-installation operations.
