the ONLY answer you ever get at a Microsoft forum is: "This message is posted in the wrong forum" blah, blah, blah, MS forums SUCK!
There are now 116 pages in this thread, which was begun more than two years ago, long before Windows 10 existed. The best way to get help is to start your own thread in the appropriate forum. As far as answers go, here's my current forum statistics:

You can see that people have marked my replies as answering their questions more than 700 times, and there are others here with far more than me. The only time you'll get a request to post in a different forum is when you've posted in the wrong one.
Good advice, Jim.
We all know how easily a specific thread can be de-railed by one off-topic post. But, isn't that what moderators are for? to straighten out the threads and put them in their proper areas. No moderators? (don't expect things to stay organized).
Also, it sounds like MS never quite got the 'play nice with other security apps' components of everything working properly (not 100% their fault) since this problem seems to persist from OS version to OS version.
In the supposed 'off-topic' posters defense, I put it to you that it probably all stems from the same, root problem. MS Defender just won't work with a lot of the other security programs out there people want to use.
I suggest more compatability, back off on the Security... just a little. Have the updater check for a list of authorized prgs to be allowed to work simultaneously with. Prgs are present, remain active anyways. MS can work some kind of deal with the 'enemy'
for the betterment of us all, I'm sure. And figure out some way to earn a profit doing it as well. (no charge, MS)
And I really don't care if this gets marked as Helpful or Not, if people want to they can,
or not.
I certainly understand why you quoted 'em, Jim. Those are some impressive stats. Where dem mods at? (HINT: canvass for volunteers)
(I could'a sworn we had some mods at one time...)
