Very slow data transfer - One Drive

I have a particular problem for which I have not found a solution.

I purchased 1 TB of One drive storage. The data transfer from my PCs and android devices is very slow to the point where it is becoming unusable. Folders are uploading from my PC to One Drive but in many cases not their data. When I open the folders in Outlook.com or on another device or PC, I often receive a message 'Folders are empty', or conversely, on another PC the folders simply have no contents.

I am trying to ascertain the cause but it is proving difficult. Below is a possible cause of issue:

I am based in Australia. When I opened my hotmail account some years ago in Australia, for some reason I was given a  .uk hotmail address. Whilst I used the service primarily for email it was not a problem. However, I am wondering now if OneDrive is backing up my data to a UK server rather than one in Australia and that is causing the problem. I have thought of closing my hotmail/outlook.com account and opening a new one but I would prefer not to do that. I would like to retain my entitlements through my current account. When I purchased the 1 TB storage it was with a license for Office 2013 (2 PCs) and for one portable device. I want to retain the office license. I have an android tablet and when MS releases Office for Android, I would like to use the remaining license on it.

    As a Microsoft Enterprise customer I have been moving my files over to the OneDrive Business suite (or should I say been trying to move my files). I started the upload of all the documents in my network drive that comprised of around 200,000 files or about 80 GB of data. Since I have a 1TB drive and several mobile devices that have access to the OneDrive through Office 365 I thought this would be a much better solution than having to connect via VPN on a PC, transfer the file, move it to a thumb drive or upload as needed to my DropBox account so I can access on mobile devices. A lot of steps which frankly should not be needed. 

    I have been uploading this data since August 2, 2017 today is August 14, 2017. Out of the number of files to upload, my PC still shows 6,996 files remaining. Other than a couple of computer reboots it has been running non-stop. My data connection is on a 1GB Ethernet, connected to an enterprise network of Cisco hardware via a 10GB three redundant layers of backbone to our central server infrastructure. My real-world WAN connection is a symmetrical 300 Mbps fiber connection with redundant carriers times two. 

    My real world Speed Test shows: 6ms ping to a server hosted in Dallas, TX. Download speed: 166.47 Mbps x 93.75 Mbps.

    What gives?

    We are in 2017 now and the speed in OneDrive still horrible !

    At Work we have 30/30 connection speed. I'm testing the upload of a file that have 457 Mo. It takes about 4 minutes to upload on OneDrive and less than 2 minutes on Google Drive. Tested in Microsoft Edge.

    Tested in Google Chrome : uploading 1 file with 1.3 Go. It tooks about 7 minutes in Google Drive and about 15 minutes in OneDrive.

    I've tested the upload at my home with a 120/20 connection. The upload still very slow on OneDrive VS Google Drive using the website.

    Thats the reason why I will not renew my Office 365 subscription after this free year offer !

    Just another "me too", I guess.

    I never used OneDrive before, but after upgrading Office to 2016 (ProPlus, not 365) it has become the default location for saving documents, so I decide to try it in certain cases.

    Transfer speeds are abysmal. My internet connection is a corporate one, not a simple DSL with a "pro" account, but a dedicated leased line.

    It is 200 Mbps symmetrical with bandwidth guarantee, slower than most DSL and cable accounts promise as maximum, but with a _guarantee_ on that speed from here to the provider's peer connections to the outside world and back.

    Online bandwidth tests show that I effectively get that speed without any problem, to and from speed testing sites hosted outside of my provider's own network.

    Transfer speed down from OneDrive fluctuates between 150-300 kBps (bytes) this morning, let's be friendly and call it roughly 2 Mbps (bits) average.

    My 7Mbps upload was never achieved with big uploads and I received this advice from MS Sarvesh

    OneDrive Team

    "I would like to inform you that the maximum limit of uploading files on https://OneDrive.live.com is 10 GB."

    I now upload one small group of folders at a time and find it much better.

    Got it - that plan is basically just Office plus extra storage for the free One Drive. Msft needs to go to a marketing class to learn a bit about product lines.

    At that transfer rate, I'd cancel the plan and go with Google or Dropbox.

    And Sharief could not add "Microsoft Forum Moderator " to his moniker so is legit.
