I would suggest you to try the following steps:
Method 1
To install KB2923545, service pack 1 should be installed on the computer. To check if SP1 is installed on the computer.

If Sp1 is not install, then try to install service pack 1 first then try to install KB2923545.
Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932). Install according to 32 bit or 64 bit system type.

If Sp1 is already installed on the computer than try to follow the steps given below.
Method 2 Run Microsoft windows update troubleshooter
When you try to install the latest updates from Windows Update, you will sometimes receive an error message.

Method 3 If the troubleshooter does not resolve the issue follow these steps.
Follow the steps
a) Click on “Start” and type “cmd” (without the quotations).
b) When you see the “cmd” icon, Right Click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
c) On the open Command Prompt window copy and paste the commands (all at once) –
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
pause
d) Wait for the process to complete.
e) Close the Command Prompt.
Now, go to Windows Update and try installing the updates
Method 4 if the above steps does not resolve issue follow these steps:
A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7,
or Windows Vista. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot.
Step 1
Try to manually install KB2923545 in clean boot state.

Note: Refer "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start as normal after troubleshooting.
Step 2
Download and install the update manually from Microsoft website.
