How to disable top bar for closing apps in windows 8.1 update 1?

This is ridiculous. Every time I try to close something in Citrix I end up closing Citrix itself! And when I press the start button on a Windows 7 Citrix machine I end up pressing the Windows 8 home screen button! This black bar is awful! Let us turn it OFF!!

Interesting... the fitting expression is, "Can't please everyone all the time"... if ever @ all.

This was given to people wanting an 'easier', more familiar, more conventional, way to close & manage Store APPs, especially, keyboard/mouse Folks.  It is, also, cool when combined w/ the ability to Pin Store APPs to the Taskbar.

No, it cannot be turned off but, one cannot please everyone all the time... if ever @ all... even when you give them what they asked to have.

In a nutshell...  It should be a configurable option... comes down to taste, like the color of the screen.  I don't intend to demonstrate to 200 residence how to use the new windows interface... although it didn't take them long to discover I hadn't protected the password from being changed....  The 21" screen is what they need to see what is written there. It is what they had before, and a down grade would just be another reason for beheading management.

There is no top bar.

There is a left bar a right bar but I don't see any top bar on windows 8.1.

Open an APP & shove the mouse right up to the top edge of the screen & the bar will show.  It won't show if you don't make it show.  Well, it shows momentarily then disappears til you bang the top edge.  You do not have to use it... there are lots of other ways to close an APP.

Actually, I've watched & written in several Tech Forums since Win8 Beta & before.  There has been praise & excitement.  And, also, a lot of whining.  It basically comes down to no matter what is attempted, brought or given to people, can never please all, all the time.  Some can never be satisfied, give them this, they want that. I am entitled to my feelings & observations but, big fusses over every little thing.  OR seeing good stuff as bad, what help is that.

Just ignore the silly bar.  And the minimise goes w/ NOW being able to Pin Store APPs to Taskbar.

  Never mind the bar... do you know if you have a Store APP open & want to go back to Desktop, just bang the mouse @ the Top-Left Corner, don't have to bother w/ that bar.

Sorry, for venting or speaking freely.  But, I'm faced w/ the same OS as y'all.  But, 8.1.1 DID give ppl what they were screaming to have.

Move mouse to the up and just drag it down, that easy it is to close apps in windows 8. You can even do it with eyes closed. More that a BUTTON, it is merely like a gesture. You're just complaining! Unless HP shipped a totally crappy mouse, which I believe they are totally capable of using a mouse on windows 8 is very easy. May be try a different mouse if this one is slow or sluggish. Have a fast responsive mouse and closing apps will merely be like gesture. 

Aggravate ageing joints lol, who advised you to buy a 21 inch touchscreen desktop! :-D
