Dell Venue 8 Pro - black screen after powering on or getting it out of sleep

I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet. The screen of the 8 pro often doesnt turn on after pressing the power button (to get it out of sleep) or after pressing the windows button. Only the backlight turns on. 

Sometimes, after pressing the power button numerous times the screen turns on. (numerous = >50times)

Doenst matter if the battery is 100% or 10%.

The screen also doesnt turn on booting it up (after powering down).

Also when i press the power button + volume down immediately after (to enter the bios), it shows a black screen with backlight on.

I have installed teamviewer on the 8 pro and i have logged on with my laptop 3 times while having a black screen on the 8 pro.

The strange thing is, when viewing the 8 pro's screen with teamviewer, i can see the touch screen of the 8 pro is still functioning. See this video i made:

Each time i watched the system event log, and saw warnings like:

'a pointer device did not report a valid unit of angular measurement'

'a pointer device reported a bad angular physical range'

'a pointer device reported a bad angular logical range'

I have installed all the laters Dell drivers and flashed the Bios (also from Dell). Also i installed the latest windows 8.1 updates.

I have rolled back the installed Intel graphic drivers to standard microsoft drivers, but also with the standard drivers the screen occasionally wont turn on.

This device is rather new. What can i do to fix this?

    I have purchased several Dell Venue 8 tablets over the last few months of 2014 for customers using my meter reading entry app. At least half of them have failed to power up at least several times, and two have never powered up again. The one that I most recently had in my possession was finally thrown into the trash can. I have customers in 39 states using my utility billing software. I have tried a Dell laptop with Windows 8.1 which would not recognize a second monitor, nor would its WIFI system work, and, as I just mentioned, several of the Venue 8 Pro tablets. I will not purchase or recommend Dell products again.

    I also purchased a Microsoft Surface 3 after all of this trouble with Dell, and within 24 hours of that purchase, it failed to power up as well. I took it back to Best Buy and they could not get it to power up either.

    Finally, I believe that I have found a tablet that will faithfully power up. It is the HP Stream 7 with Windows 8.1. So far, it has never failed to power up, and believe me, I put it through some serious testing before sending it to a customer.

    Thanks for that post.

    I did not know holding down the power button would do that.  Nor did I know that holding down the power button and the volume key would get me into the bios.

    I've been having the same issue as most people here - screen gone to black after it went into hibernate.  I held down my power button for a minute and mine rebooted, updated and everything is now good.

    I'm using a Dell Venue 7 with Android. I've recently encountered this same issue so I don't believe that it's just "Windows". I found this site after googling my issue.

    My screen just turns off, goes black.

    I tried to shut off the "auto-dim" function which has lessened it greatly.

    Well, garbage in, garbage out as they say.  My feeling is that Intel designed a really cheap tablet design in order to offer a similar value to the less expensive ARM based devices of the time.

    Instead if selling their x86 CPU and chipset for less money, they went cheap on everything else -- leaving consumers with worthless tablets and manufacture's like Dell with little to no support in how to recify the many problems with the design.

    It is no coincidence that ALL the Intel based tablets introduced last year are all the same size, screen relolution, thickness, etc. -- this is an Intel design flaw being covered up.

    Thanks for letting me know about your Dell Android problem, at least it allows me to hate Microsoft a little bit less than I have been.
