Photo Collage

When I purchased my new computer it came with Windows 8. I was pleasantly surprised when my photos popped up on the desktop in a collage manner, sort of like a screensaver. When I upgraded to 8.1, this feature has gone away. I miss it and would love to have it back.  If anyone knows how to accomplish this, please reply!! Thanks.  Connie York

No, I am not referring to Screensaver.  With Windows 8 on my new computer, it was a pleasant surprise that happened when I opened Photos.  There was an arrow that showed up at the bottom left of my screen, I believe it actually said "shuffle" and when I clicked it, my photos came up, covered the screen like a collage, different sizes, etc.  It was amazing.  Then, when I upgraded to 8.1, this option was no longer there.  I have done some research and seen this same situation from several others.  We did not do anything in Windows 8 to make this collage happen--it just happened, and it was great. Now it is gone.  Anything that can be done to bring this back would be appreciated.  I have started using the screensaver option since I lost the previous feature, but it is just not the same.  Thanks, Connie York

The feature you are referring to was not implemented in the new Windows 8.1 Photos app.  I have noted your request to bring this feature back and will bring it up with the product group.

    This doesn't work for me the way the "original" collage worked. 

    Close but no cigar.

    I do appreciate that there others who used and now miss the function.

    I will watch for updates and try what I can.

    Been using AmeliaA's  idea now for a week.

    I didn't think I would care for another "slide show", that is the way it started off.

    Every day it does something different. I don't know if this is the original "collage" , but I'll keep it.

    I'm glad it was helpful! The original collage isn't available in the photo gallery slide show, unfortunately, though there are several other nice options for the slide show, as you note. The collage in the screensaver is good, and it's odd that they didn't include it in the slide show.

    Yeah, we are in our 70s and have about 1500 pictures from childhood to all the places we have lived and our children and grandchildren.  The collage was just great; to see the 10 pictures and then one fade out and another in its place "oh, that was in Hawaii and that one up in the corner was when we lived in Spain" etcetera.  We were mesmerized for an hour or more; routinely.  It was the BEST app in Windows 8.  Bring it back or give me the link where I can download it.
