hi all ive noticed that in some games in win 8.1 there is serious mouse lag . this makes some games almost unplayable now. this is a serious issue especially since many gamers upgraded for the benefits ingames but now cant play do to the mouse lag issues.
for me its in call of duty 4 aka modern warfare 1. there are numerous articles now about this issue and with certain games .

as you can see this isnt a isolated issue and needs fixing asap. especially with many big titles just coming in the next few weeks on pc !

Not all of us are computer programmers. PLEASE just fix this. My mouse worked before the 8.1 update, and now I can't play my Pogo games. I respectfully ask that you do not tell me to read and decipher the complicated instructions (which have not worked), and you just get the geniuses you pay to figure this stuff out to create a simple download that fixes the problem.
Or tell me how to go back to Windows 8 where my mouse worked, and the windows button on my tablet worked. I really wish I had not succumbed to the constant barrage of "update to 8.1 now" messages. I held out as long as possible to avoid any issues, only to have this one.
The truth is I have spent hours trying to follow the computer-speak instructions, and really I am a consumer and I am dissatisfied. Have people who are paid to know about these things fix it for your customers.

My testing of the recent Windows 8.1 Update (8-April-2014, KB2919355) shows that Windows 8.1 no longer has the mouse lag reported here : It no longer coalesces and merges mouse input, and tools like MouseRate.exe (http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Mouse-Rate-Checker.shtml) shows the full mouse polling rate, at least for Windows 8.1 running on a desktop PC.
In other words, it is back to the Windows 7/8 behaviour.
Possibly it now works differently on laptops or tablets than it does for desktops?
Can somebody with a laptop or tablet (and a high Hz mouse) confirm that MouseRate.exe now shows the full polling rate (or not)?
And possibly a similar solution for the later OSs - WIn8 and Win8.1?
Surpisingly sometimes the mouse (Microsoft Sculpt Comfort) works rather fine and than again jitters, input lag, jumping, etc gets back.
I've tried to look for a coincidence with PC load, but it happens mostly independent on CPU, disk nor network traffic.
It even hinders smooth operation in graphic programs including PowerPoint 2013!!!
So not only gamers complain!!!

Complex Question: Windows Updates' automatic upgrade to Win 8.1 messed up my laptop computer as it did many others. In frustration, I bought and installed a new hard drive and installed Win 7 Pro as the OS and installed all the drivers for Win 7 64bit. This should have eliminated Win 8.1 problems - BUT - Is it possible that whatever Microsoft did to goon up the way mouse control works on regular old laptops has somehow carried over to my newly installed Win 7 Pro OS?
I ask - because when the machine was new with Win 8 installed by the Mfr. I could play World of Tanks with no problems, but under 8.1 it became totally unplayable, and now with Win 7 Pro it still does not have as smooth of a mouse performance as it should (jitters, input lag, jumping, etc).
Assume for the sake of space that I have all proper drivers, have confirmed the mouse functions well on another computer, that the hardware is not borked for some reason, and that a clean boot has not resolved the problem.
Is there a way to manually configure KB 2908279 to fix potential problems with Win 7? Or is there another fix for Win 7?
