mouse lag in video games since updating to win 8.1

hi all ive noticed that in some games in win 8.1 there is serious mouse lag . this makes some games almost unplayable now. this is a serious issue especially since many gamers upgraded for the benefits ingames but now cant play do to the mouse lag issues.

for me its in call of duty 4 aka modern warfare 1. there are numerous articles now about this issue and with certain games .

as you can see this isnt a isolated issue and needs fixing asap. especially with many big titles just coming in the next few weeks on pc !

We have issued a fix to address most of the “mouse lag” issues associated with gaming in Windows 8.1, which vary based on the game, input methods used, etc. More details on the issue and available resolutions are available via KB 2908279, and affected customers can go to the Microsoft Download Center to install the update

    Can you please post your systems DxDiag?

    Run > DxDiag > Save all information.

    Is there any custom software you are using? MontionJoy .... Joy2key.. or emulation programs that overwrite base drivers?

    Some people are and some people aren't experiencing these issues, so it would be really awesome to see if it is specific type of software that could be causing the problem.

    One thing I have tried in the past is slowly rolling back or removing specific software to see if they could be affecting the interface devices.

    Bios fully up to date? Amongst all other hardware? its the best first steps to take for trouble shooting after making such a big change on your OS.

    This issue was reported on another thread where the solution posted was to rollback the driver.  The member stated rollback option had not been available until recovery was performed.

    Just wanted to add my frustration and blame on Microsoft too, this time for a $10 original MS wireless mouse, the Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 1000. It shows the same lag/jumping behavior under 8.1 on my laptop, just like my Logitech G400 on my desktop.

    A note on MouseMovementRecorder.exe : Unless it is in NoCatchup mode (press 'C' key to change catch-up mode), it calls NtSetTimerResolution() to change the system clock to the highest possible resolution.

    This means timing of things may be affected while MouseMovementRecorder is running, in particular MouseRate.exe (can) shows a higher mouse polling rate while MouseMovementRecorder is running and a lower polling rate otherwise.

    Best not to have MouseMovementRecorder running while analysing the behaviour of another program or game.
