Have been trying to install KB2919355 for the past month with no success. In update history, it says Error details: Code E0000100. Anyone know how to fix this one? Not looking promising with all the other errors with no solutions...

It restored the computer to before I installed the first updates that show when you do a clean install (so kb2919355 was not installed anymore). But I did notice that the first batch of updates includes some updates for computers without KB2919355... Maybe those are causing conflicts too. So this time, I will install all the updates but those.

I ran the startup repair tool from the boot USB I have and it system restored to before I installed the first batch of updates... @ OliverTabuger , can you describe the process and the outcome? If a startup repair restores the system to a consistent state and allows KB2919355 to be installed, this might be a productive way forward. Even better would be to get Microsoft to merge KB2919355 into the downloadable installer. Unfortunately, the retail Windows 8 product key (upgrade) that I have does not allow me to download Win 8.1 from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only . Even if I had Win 8.1 install media, it was not clear from the last call with Microsoft Support whether I would run into conflicts between the upgrade software and the upgraded OEM Windows 8 install, or whether the retail product key would overwrite the OEM key.

Make sure you have a backup procedure if your experiments go wrong. ; ) Windows Action Center popped up a message saying there was a compatibility issue with "this version of windows" and to update my driver. But Intel only has drivers for windows 7 and my model of mobo has been discontinued for support. Before the update, if the chipset was enabled, the mouse would stutter sometimes and it was a little slower than with the chipset disabled (and the mouse wouldn't stutter in that case). After the update, the chipset is still disabled because I haven't re-enabled it and still slower than molasses (but the mouse doesn't stutter at all, even when loading things). I'm not sure what is causing the slowness now. The "Microsoft Basic Display Driver" really isn't that bad. I can't easily use dual monitors anyways on this computer (no HDMI or 2nd VGA) and it can go up to 1280x1024 resolution. =)

I just bought a new HP Win 8.1 desktop, and it seems to update fine. However, my Lenovo laptop (born as a Win 7 machine but with Win 8.1 on it now) continually gets the "couldn't complete/undoing changes" message. And it takes lots of non-productive time to try to install the updates, but also to "undo the changes." This is ridiculous! The machine is basically becoming unusable. I'm not a computer techhie, so MS needs to fix this from its end and make it right for all of us non-techhie types. Don't give me a workaround. Don't give me more things to do to make it work. JUST make it work. Why is this taking so long? Thanks for listening.
