I've got FSX gold version and it runs like a champ ...You mite check compatibility at Microsoft compatibility site to see if your version cut's it in 8 or 8.1
If all else fails get Lockheed Martin’s Prepar3D

I have the official release of 8.1 now, downloaded last night and FSX still does not work.
I can get through the menus but when I click to fly now, it drops me back to the desktop and gives me a fatal error.
I have tried:
1. A system restore back to windows 8, followed by the 8.1 upgrade.
2. Fresh install of FSX with no add-ons
3. Tried 'run as admin' and all different compatibility modes.
It still does not work...FS2004 works great. FSX did work in Windows 8.0 fine.
This needs to be fixed, otherwise Microsoft will have killed FSX.

totally agree. I've got it so that it works up to a point then crashes. Absolute rubbish service from MS.
