I have been using Microsoft Picture It! Premium 10 (mpi10) with Windows XP for quite some time until just recently when I bought a new computer with Windows 8.1. However, when I tried to install mpi10 on my new computer, I realized the two weren't compatible.
I really like mpi10, & I work with pictures quite often. Question is... is there a way to make it compatible, or is there another photo editing software that it compares with, that is compatible with Windows 8.1, & that I can download from your site?

Yes, as per the compatibility status on Windows Compatibility center is concerned, Microsoft Picture It is not compatible with Windows 8.1. Refer to the link to get the details:

How I still use XPPictureIt on Windows10 in 7 easy steps! I also loved my old XPPictureIt, but found I couldnt use it anymore. Then I discovered a trick. I am running my old XP version of PictureIt on Windows10 , and Ive gotten most of the basic tools to still work. The only problem was that I couldnt load or save any pictures. So heres my solution:
[1] Open a new blank picture.
[2] Copy the pic you want to edit into an Email (I still use AOL).
[3] Click on the pic and choose 'COPY PICTURE' option, ( NOT just 'COPY').
[4] Paste the pic onto the NEW BLANK PICTURE you just started.
[5] Do all the editing you want, but you wont be able to save your work directly from the old XPPictureIt program. My solution is:
[6] just COPY (CTRL+C) then PASTE (Ctrl+V) it back into another email.
[7] Save the finished pic from the email to your computer. Its easy-peasy to still enjoy the old PictureIt program.
My Rant > I remember when Windows10 first came out, they said 'we brought back the [START] button' as a major advertising slogan. Why the F*** did they remove it in the first place? Many improvements are not improvements, and sometimes its better to leave things alone!

Picture It Version 7.0 works with Windows 8.1 with no problems
Resolved??? Hopefully....so far so good. Have now been using "Picture It" on Windows 10 64 bit.....flawlessly for 2 weeks. Up until I found this solution it would not function. Freezing, unresponsive and constant crashes.
Go to search bar and type in: "run programs made for previous versions of windows" this will take you compatability trouble shooter......click "next". Then find "Picture It".....highlight and click "next". Then click "Troubleshoot program". At "problems you notice" check the top option......"program worked on earlier versions......." and click "next".
....now is where this makes no sense but has worked for me. You would think we should pick "Windows XP, service pack 3".....but this will NOT work. Picture It will still continue to crash. But I chose "Windows 7".......then click "next" and test program. As I said....at these settings, Microsoft Picture It has been working perfectly for me for 2 weeks now. I hope this works for you! Picture It is a GREAT program!
I am very unhappy with Microsoft's choice to make it impossible to use Pictureit with the updated versions of windows. It's not fair, and I agree we've been robbed. I can't do necessary picture editing with the programs they have left us with to use. It seems to me I should have the option to keep it with all the windows updates. I would be so happy if Microsoft gave it back.
