I have been using Microsoft Picture It! Premium 10 (mpi10) with Windows XP for quite some time until just recently when I bought a new computer with Windows 8.1. However, when I tried to install mpi10 on my new computer, I realized the two weren't compatible.
I really like mpi10, & I work with pictures quite often. Question is... is there a way to make it compatible, or is there another photo editing software that it compares with, that is compatible with Windows 8.1, & that I can download from your site?

Yes, as per the compatibility status on Windows Compatibility center is concerned, Microsoft Picture It is not compatible with Windows 8.1. Refer to the link to get the details:
However, in Windows 8.1 Operating System, you can use Windows Live Photo Gallery in place of Microsoft Picture It:

I do a ton of photo editing and I love Picture It Premium 10. I've had it for many many years. I also use Photoshop Elements 12 but for a lot of my editing I still prefer Picture It. It is not as powerful as Elements but it's a lot more intuitive and just plain easier to use and prefer the file organizer over PSE's.
A few years ago when I got a new computer it came with Windows 7 Home. I found out that I needed to upgrade to Windows Pro in order to get the backwards compatibility. The programs kind of run in a virtual environment. Everything installed perfectly and is nicely integrated with the rest of the computer and I have never had any issues.
Unfortunately that's where they scr** people over because I had to pay an additional $150.00+ just to get that feature in order to keep a bunch of my programs working. Has anyone checked to see if the upgrade is an option with 8 or 8.1?
Lack of compatibility with programs and peripherals has been a major issue with Windows 8 and 8.1.

Yes I used picture-it since it came out in 1999 for xp really do miss how easy it was to use and all the things I could do with it and edit pics like a pro with know school knowledge you need to day they had a winner and as all things they couldn't be
happy and just leave it alone I would still be using picture it to day if I could but I did find PHOTO EXPLOSION DELUXE version 5 doesn't have all the features that picture-it 1999 had which I would gladly pay 100.00$ for you messed up Microsoft you lost a

Try FastStone Image Viewer form www.faststone.org. It's free and does much the same as Picture It. Easy to use too.
You might be interested in my book "Easy Digital Plant Photography", soon to be available on Amazon, which deals in detail with photo editing in a way intended to make it easy, which most publishers don't. I hope it will be available in a month or so.

Wow Microsoft just doesn't get it. The Dumbed down a perfectly great, easy program in Lieu of enhancing PI. Every time I upgrade to the "NEW" Windows I as a consumer get stuck with purchasing $1000s of dollars of new software. Starting with Office, Printers, PI, and every known software. When will someone at MS get the darn 17 year olds off their board and think of the working world????? PLEASE QUIT UPDATING and costing me more even if you think it is "Upgrading" or "Cool". I like my wife, but I don't change her and my kids every year!!!! Get a Clue MS development...
