Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center doesn't recognize Sculpt Comfort Keyboard (Windows 8.1 x64)

I've recently upgraded my computer, bought Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Keyboard and installed Windows 8.1 x64.

I also installed Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center v.2.2, that's offered on the Microsoft Hardware website.

The keyboard works like a charm, but Mouse and Keyboard Center doesn't recognize it.

There's a driver for keyboard in device manager called "Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard (Mouse and Keyboard Center)", and there's also a mouse driver called "Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Mouse (Mouse and Keyboard Center)", though I don't have any wireless mice. There are also two devices under HID devices group, "Microsoft hardware - USB-keyboard" and "Microsoft hardware - USB-mouse". Disabling those mouse drivers doesn't help.

What's wrong and how can I make Mouse and Keyboard Center see my Sculpt Comfort Keyboard?

    The Driver is missing.

    With the keyboard plugged in (and not responding) go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager.

    You should see two entries for the keyboard accompanied by exclamation marks in the Human Interface section.

    Right click one of the entries and select Update Driver, then select browse my computer for driver software.

    Select 'Let me pick from a list...' From the list you are presented with, select either USB-Human Interface Device or HID-compliant device and click next. Repeat for the other entry and the computer should now see your keyboard as a basic USB keyboard.

    Then you can install any Drivers that came with Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard.

    Place the computer in clean boot and check if it helps.

    Hi Jessen,

    So I uninstalled v.2.2 and installed version 2.3.145.0. No result, it still says "Device not found".

    Hi Riggs,

    Uninstall Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center v.2.2 and then install it and check if it helps.

    a: Press Windows Key + X

    b: Then click Programs and Features

    c: Now look for Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center and then right click on it and select Uninstall.
