Error Code 80073712 Windows update Win 8.1 x64

Ok so here are the system specs

After the last update and restart. I am unable to use Windows update.

I have tried the troubleshooting steps but the problem still exists.

SFC returns no problem at all.

Problem occurring for updates KB2936068 and KB2919355

Using their standalone installer isn't working either.

Hi Jaxx,

Microsoft has issued a fix for your error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2969339

After you install it, the rest of the updates should download automatically.

                wasted a good part of the day Googling, and trying things to no avail.

           

    Try some diagnosis?  I would still like to see what this 0x80073712 really means.  If we knew what it meant there would be a better chance of devising an effective workaround.  (SOP for end users of closed source software.)

    Downloaded the latest 2919355.msu and attempted by hand, still fails with 0x80073712, tried running the diagnostic tool, but that couldn't fix anything up.

    Like many, it appears, I've wasted a good part of the day Googling, and trying things to no avail. Machine came with Windows 8 installed, has been kept up to date, and has only ever run Microsoft Security Essentials. 

    'Refreshing' my PC isn't a terribly attractive idea, getting apps reinstalled is a non trivial exercise.

    Hope the installation runs properly this time.

    As a precation though, if you use any third party antivirus, disable it before you attempt to run the installation. Most AV these days include a type of file scanner which springs into action whenever you attempt to install anything. This can interfere with the download and subsequent installation of Windows patches.
