I too have experienced this issue many times. I always spend a vast amount of time trying to work a solution, today though its time to put some comments to microsoft to resolve this issue. I am not a lone voice with a single issue, this is clearly related to demise of xp in a few months from now and MS don't give a tinkers that we can't update. I 've tried all the fixits, tips tricks, dot net etc. No resolution. Microsoft are you listening, respond with a fix.
Service registration is missing or corrupt
From recently I can't update windows and I ran MS Fix it Center and it shows that service registration is missing or corrupt.
