How can we believe 7 is secure. It's the same old Windows. All the Windows need patching every week.
Not true, it isn't the same old Windows. There are definitely features in Vista,7,8,8.1 that make them more secure and this becomes self evident when you encounter them for the first time and then research what is going on so that you can understand.
But, even if you choose not to believe that succesive Windows versions are no more secure than predecessors and that they aren't different, then your argument means that they are no worse than XP in this respect.
Windows 7 is a bloated pig.
Maybe, but you don't have to eat the parts of the pig that you don't like the taste of.
And I'll be glad when it fades and gets the XP treatment.
So will I and I will happily move on to whatever is the current version, 9 maybe, 10 or whatever.
Windows 7 is Vista in disguise.
Pretty much true. But it is faster on the same hardware specification, the first ever Windows version to be able to claim this. This is fact that I can personally vouch for having switched from Vista to Windows 7 on the same hardware the day that Windows 7 was launched. See here for just one comparison of XP/Vista/Windows 7 (the first that I came across by Googling)...
...you will see that on the same hardware (which admittedly they chose) they find 7 is actually faster than XP too.
