Blank Screen after Installing Windows 8.1?

I installed Windows 8.1 earlier today, and the process finished without any trouble. However, a few minutes after reloading, Windows forced me to log off. When I logged back on, there was only a blank screen with a cursor. I activated task manager and a warning appeared stating, "?CreateRect@Value@DirectUI@@SAPEAV12@HHHH@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Windows\System32\Windows.UI.Immersive.dll".

I've ran sfc scannow several times, and after viewing the log file each time it says it's repairing corrupt files "Windows.UI.Immersive.dll", "ActionCenterCPL.dll", "slmgr.vbs", "ActionCenter.dll.mui", and "slwga.dll" from store.

Each time after running the scan, the computer will repeat the same process: it will work normally for a few minutes (one or two), and then force me to log out once again with the blank screen greeting me again if I log back in.

I've tried uninstalling all of my drivers, my antivirus program, and a few other programs, yet the problem has persisted each time. Does anyone have any idea how this could be fixed? "Windows.UI.Immersive.dll" seems to be appearing a lot, but I'm not familiar with its function and how the installation could be affected by it.

    Solved. It was because of Fences from Stardock. Sorry.

    Thank you very much! It really works!

    But i was unable to completely delete WAT folder, subfolder "data" didn't delete. And I didn't find windows.ui.immersive.dll in SXS folder, I took this file from my desktop PC instead.

    However I am unable to drag-and-drop shortcuts on my desktop... It is strange, because it doesn't work for my laptop and desktop pc right after upgrading to Windows 8.1...

    Any suggestions?

    Then I completely removed that folder, Windows Activation Technologies, and writing now this text. My tablet Samsung Ativ XE500 comes with factory licensed Windows 8, so looks like Microsoft totally screwed up......

    You're a legend mate! This fixed it for me. Still showing as activated.

    I don't get it. Did you finally solved the problem? where did you found the new ...immersive.dll? I can't find the Windows Activation Technologies folder.

    Safe Mode Tip: 

    Hold the power button to turn off the computer.  While off, hold SHIFT and start tapping F8 as  fast as you can.  While tapping, hit the power button to turn on the computer.  The idea here is that you're already tapping before you even hit the button and still tapping after hitting the button.  This will DRASTICALLY increase your odds.  

    >Open Advanced Startup Options

    >Choose Troubleshoot

    >Choose Advanced Options

    >Choose Startup Settings

    >Touch or Click Restart Button

    After the computer restarts...

    >Choose a Windows 8 Safe Mode Option

    >Wait While Windows 8 Launches

    >Log In

    Fixing the Black Screen:

    People are spot-on that it's a display driver issue.  The exact problem driver and the exact solution driver may vary based on the make and model of your computer.  I simply recommend...

    > From the start screen (with the live tiles) type "Device Manager" (it will initiate a search)

    > Select the "Device Manager" option from the results

    > Expand the "Display adapters" section of the list

    > For each entry within "Display adapters"

    >> Click on the item and click Delete on the keyboard

    >> Check the box for "Delete the driver software for this device"

    >> Click the "OK" button

    >> Repeat for any other display adapters (if more than one)

    From here, you should be in a minimal graphics mode.  Feel free to reboot your computer normally (no need for safe mode).  You should be able to get in.  Granted, it will launch into a minimal graphics mode.  This is the point you can start trying out different graphics drivers supported for your computer.  In my case, Windows just automatically noticed that I had missing drivers and loaded them up automatically.  The drivers Windows picked worked perfectly.
