Windows 8.1 updates failing to install error 800F0920

My Win 8.1 Pro system was working fine until a few weeks ago when suddenly Windows Updates became broken.  The typical scenario is to choose one or more updates to install, it gets partway through, then reboots, then gets further along (to about 75%), then announces it can't finish the installation and has to roll back the install.  In the end, the update isn't installed.  The whole process takes hours and hours.  The first few times this happened it was in the middle of the work day and I lost use of the computer throughout the whole afternoon.

I researched the many, many similar problems that other people have experience and tried all the suggested solutions involving DSIM, SFC, deleting/renaming the update folder and files, booting "clean", and so on.  I even wrote a simple batch file to do most of this (copy at the end of this post) because I was doing it so often.  I was gradually able to get most of the updates for Windows and Office installed, except for three updates.  For those three, I cannot install them no matter what.  They are (required updates) , KB2955164, KB2966804, and Optional Update KB2962409.  I'll post the full error messages below.

The other new problem I've noticed with this system is that I can no longer change the network properties.  I was doing some tweaking on the network and I wanted to set the PC's IP address to a specific address (instead of using DHCP) and I couldn't change it. That may or may not be related -- I haven't researched it much at this point.

So, does anyone have any suggestions? It's hard to keep trying different ideas that don't work because it's so time consuming.  Since this system is at my office and I don't want to interrupt work again, I can only try doing updates at the end of the work day, and I find out the next morning whether or not it work.

Here are the error messages. You will see that the error codes are  all 800F0920.  Originally, my error codes were all either 80080005 or 80242014 and involved about a dozen updates.  So this is progress of a sorts.

    Windows update uses ipv6 as a preference for updates but I don't think that adapter it the cause. But given the other issues with the networking its hard to say since you can't get in to any properties. The logs will say what adapters were picked up

    You can use dropbox or any file sharing program. If you have a Microsoft account you can use that to log in to onedrive and then upload it there and make it public. From there it will give you a link to share it. I wasn't sure if you meant you don't use it. It is free to use with a Microsoft account. If you don't like to use file sharing programs let me know so we can figure out another way

    If you would like you can open the logs and copy and paste it to the forum. However it may be a lot of text in there

    I don't think the two MS virtual adapters have any significance.  The debug adapter is there but I have no use for it.  And the teredo adapter is only used for encapsulating IPv6 packets on an IPv4 network.  I'm not using IPv6 at all, so it's pretty irrelevant.  The yellow exclamation mark for it gives  this error message:

    "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

    {Operation Failed}

    The requested operation was unsuccessful."

    I don't have access to a public OneDrive folder. Do you have somewhere I could upload the CBS file?

    Limit access will tell it to use the local store to repair files since windows update isn't working. Can you get a copy of the CBS.log and windowsupdate.log and post then to a one drive public folder?

    What is the status code for that driver when you open the properties? You could uninstall you NIC drivers and reinstall it should fixit but I included the link above since there are multiple suggestions. Third party Virus software could also be an issue.

     already made extensive use of this utility, as described in my original post.

    But not with the  /source:  and  /limitaccess  operands as described in the blog.   <eg>

    Note that use of them was finally mentioned on page 12?

    I only read the original blog and the first page of comments. Kudos to you for reading all the way through to page 12.  However, I still don't see how either source or limitaccess can help.  Source is used when you have a source other than Windows Update for "good" files.  Limitaccess is used to prevent you from comparing to one set of files, such as blocking out Windows Update. I don't have any source of good files besides Windows Update, so I don't see how either can help. Thanks, anyway.

    Just to let you know, when I check the device manager with showing hidden devices, I get two extra adapters besides the physical NIC: "Microsoft Kernel Debug Network Adapter" and "Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adopter". For the Teredo adapter, it shows a yellow exclamation mark and says it couldn't load the driver.
