There are 72 processes running in my Windows 8.1 PC, are they malicious?

Dear community,

The computer is new.

Im not computer literate but logic tells me 72 processes running in th e back ground is too many?

I don't wish to start turning on/off processes in case I corrupt the machine or messing with programs to deselect ...

start up has only 3 or 4 processes running so not so bad.

Any suggestions on where i can take it in London, uk to be detoxed?

Can I get Microsoft to fix it remotely?

thank you

sarah,

CrowdInspect is only meant an an informative utility to let you know what's going on with your system.

You don't need to kill any process, but if you come across any marked with a red dot, run a good anti-malware application like the free version of Malwarebytes to check them out. Download that from here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/free/

    Okay...

thanks i dont think i have anymore questions for now...

I was wondering do you get paid for this service?

I'd hoped to give you something for the advice you have given me?

anyway please let me know if you dont mind some more questions coming at a later date...

until i get to grips with this computer.

    sarah :)

What? Microsoft give money away? I'm dumbstruck...lol

No, we're all volunteers here, but it keeps me occupied. Just to know you're up and running again without any malware lurking in the background is reward enough for me ;)

    just something to mention...

i looked at a little box at bottom of my screen

    and it reads the following....

    cpu 5%

    memory 33%

    Disk 0%

    Network 0%

in my task manager utilisation is 4 per cent

    speed 0.81 GHz

    processes 82

    threads 814

    handles 26808

    max speed 1.40 GHz

and the 14 day trial only reads trial not premium...

    THANK YOU

    NO rush in replying

Those good stats. Nothing to worry about.

Malwarebytes probably does say "Trial", but will change to "Premium" if you put some cash on the table.
