There are 72 processes running in my Windows 8.1 PC, are they malicious?

Dear community,

The computer is new.

Im not computer literate but logic tells me 72 processes running in th e back ground is too many?

I don't wish to start turning on/off processes in case I corrupt the machine or messing with programs to deselect ...

start up has only 3 or 4 processes running so not so bad.

Any suggestions on where i can take it in London, uk to be detoxed?

Can I get Microsoft to fix it remotely?

CrowdInspect is only meant an an informative utility to let you know what's going on with your system.

You don't need to kill any process, but if you come across any marked with a red dot, run a good anti-malware application like the free version of Malwarebytes to check them out. Download that from here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/free/

    Okay defragged the lot....

    all reading 0 percent....

    errr same error appeared...

    0x807800C5...

    and

    the mounted backup volume is inaccessible.

    0x8078004f

    very puzzling, dont you think?

    could the drive have a hidden partition drive for my mack? surely that would have been formatted out when i did the format into ntfs.......

    coz i think this hard drive is half for windows and half for mack....

    Sarah,

    If I understand you correctly, you're using your external hard drive for both Windows files and for Apple Mac. Is that correct?

    If so, go buy another external hard drive and use it exclusively for Windows.

    Apple and Microsoft operating systems are incompatible with each other.

    Hi Sarah,

    Can you do the following please.

    1. Connect the external drive which has the problem and then hit Windows key to open the Start menu with the tiles.
    2. Start typing the word "Defragment" and you'll see "Defragment and optimize drives" appear on the right.
    3. Click that and then click the external drive to highlight it.
    4. Then click the "Optimize" button.
    5. When it finishes, try to create a system image again.

    If your C: drive shows as being more than 10% defragmented, optimize that before you try to create the system image.
