Windows 8.1 Install Error 0xC1900101-0x20017

I had this problem upgrading from windows 8 to the preview and was never able to install it. Now I just try with the final and same problem is happening.

Microsoft is really disappointing me. This is ridiculous

    If that isn't the error you received then please start a new thread.

    C:$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log - Contains information about setup actions during the installation

    C:$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log - Contains information about setup errors during the installation.

    These are the logs you need to look at or upload a copy to your SkyDrive account and post a link back for assistance.

    I'd also suggest that you start a new post with exact details of your computer system (make/model)

    Did you upgrade from a previous version of Windows to Windows 8 then try the update?

    What steps you took before the upgrade - (reinstall Windows, reset Windows, etc)

    Any errors encountered before attempting to update to Windows 8.1?

    So why won't Microsoft tell us how to identify what specifically is the problem when the windows 8.1 upgrade fails?  If the current install process does not record such in one of the logs, then it should be changed to do so.

    I tried most things that people here suggested and none were the problem with my Asus u43jc laptop. 

    Things that didn't work:

    Running msconfig and disabling all non Microsoft services

    Disabling wifi, ethernet drivers in device manager (I also disabled audio and logmein drivers)

    Installing the latest nvidia graphics drivers. 

    Installing all required and optional windows updates.

    Other things I didn't pursue: 

    1. I have a ssd and had various windows installation and other issues with it. 
    2. I didn't mess with any system devices in device manager.

    Just thought I'd share so others avoid wasting time.  I'm not gonna bother with 8.1 again until January, hopefully this nonsense has been fixed by then.

    Try to add a new user (administrator) and try again ... For me this did work...

    And how many logical disk do you have?

    Did you change the SATA mode to AHCI in the BIOS/UEFI
