Hi Folks: I solved my problem (paid a tech $100) by having the BIOS updated to the 220 version and then using the system recovery to revert to the original Windows from the stored image. Fortunately, the T100 was only a few days old, so I was not heavily
invested in setting it up and installing software. The tech mentioned to me that he was able to flash the BIOS without having the computer boot (it couldn't) by pressing the Power and Esc buttons at the same time. He could then indicate that the new BIOS was
on a flash drive connected to the USB input.
He also mentioned somewhat philosophically that when a new machine enters the marketplace, the earliest buyers are the "guinea pigs." Although my paying an additional 20-25% on the price of the machine was painful, it seemed better than dealing with the
pathetic support ASUS reportedly offers or returning it to Amazon, waiting a week, and then having a new T100 with the same potential problem (the 214 BIOS).
The T100 is priced competitively, which is good, but to stay profitable the company likely does not invest enough in quality control or support. Pricier machines hopefully have more investment in these. You get what you pay for.
Anyhow, my T100 is now running fine and I love its small size, low weight and versatility as a tablet and PC. Paying the extra $$ still bugs me, but it was worth saving the time and hassle. Hopefully, someone reading this will benefit from my experience
and save some time and/or money.
