Updates KB2972216 and KB2894854 fail to install.

Hi there,

The subject, windows update fails to updates and KB2894854 and keep asking to them. What should I do?

Restoring from a 2 month old back up does not put your system in the clear. These things do not build up over night. You need to run Malwarebytes and ADW Cleaner on the restored system and upload log files on what has been removed. You can then see what further needs to be done.

I have managed to resolve the issue by myself! Yay!!!!

So, firstly, you was right.

After I rolled back to previous back up, it was fine except one thing - I still have Login delay :(((( , but I managed to install all updates (problem one included).

Suddenly, I realized one thing! The system backup that I was on has something different from the original system state, that is while I was using original system, I have deleted all folders and files in "Installer folder" (C:\Windows\Installer).

After realization of that, I was wondering: "What will happen if I just copy all folders from present system state(the one I rolled back on) to the last one(Original state)?" Good thing is before rollback to earlier backup I have made backup (sorry for tautology).

So, after 30 minutes, now I am using my original system. I copied all folders from earlier backup back to their original place(C:\Windows\Installer), restarted pc, started windows update and waited with my fingers crossed... Whola! KB2972216 and KB2894854 are successfully installed!

Also, I have installed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and ADW Cleaner. Anti-Malware found nothing and ADW Cleaner Found a little bit. I wiped out almost all of it except Tencent folder (it is where QQ is a Chinese messenger, I need it) and something other folders.

After that I restart my computer again and... Well, it seems that the last problem for me is Login delay.

I will be very appreciated if you can help me resolve it.

I am using Microsoft Security Essentails right from the start, from the first day I bought the notebook.
1. Did you have AdwCleaner remove ['Clean'] everything it found?
- That's a rather frightening log to read. It does not bode well for the overall security of your computer or the data on it!
2a. Was Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) originally offered & installed via Windows Update or did you intentionally choose to install it?

2b. In Windows Explorer [WinKey+E], navigate to & right-click on

• **C:\Program Files**Microsoft Security Client <=this folder

Select Properties: What is the Created date displayed on the resulting General tab?

2c. What ANTIMALWARE CLIENT version is currently installed? To find out, open MSE & click on the downward-pointing arrow to the right of HELP then select ABOUT SECURITY ESSENTIALS.

2d. What ENGINE & DEFINITIONS versions?
1. What anti-virus application was installed before you installed MSE, was your subscription still current, and did you uninstall it before you installed MSE?
4a. Has a(nother) Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer since you bought it?

4b. Did a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial [PICK ONE] come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)

You shouldn't be installing Windows updates, as they are completely unnecessary.

The primary function of Windows updates is to slow your machine down with unnecessary processes, so you'll go out and buy another computer that has Windows software on it. The updates generally provide no benefit, and often cause more harm than good.

If you're concerned about security then you shouldn't be using Windows machines at all, and should consider Linux Mint or Debian.

I probably don't need to tell anyone this, but just in case: the above
