How to install Apps in SD Card in Windows 8.1 ?

May I know whether is there any way to enable us to install windows store apps into the micro SD card, since my 16GB Dell Tablet is running out of memory. I am using Windows 8.1 (Not RT) ?

Hi Yaman,

By default Windows Store apps will be saved in the following location.

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

Hence, it is not possible to move Windows Store apps to SD card.

I would suggest you to delete the unnecessary files from the computer and check if it improves in memory.

You may also get in touch with the manufacturer to increase the memory.

    I found this discussion very interesting.  I have a 32GB Quantum View W8.1 Tablet and for the last month I have been struggling to cope with the rapidly disappearing storage.  I have a 16GB  Memory Card which I have been trying to treat as if it were a partition on the HDD (the Card Slot was a factor in my choice of Tablet).  The Card option has so far proved quite 'stable' unlike the USB Flash drives which I find prone to corruption and to their drive letters changing (whereas the Card has never been other than my 'D' drive.)

    1. I have been replacing some of my Desktop programs with portable versions on the Card and uninstalling the originals from the HDD.  Examples are Firefox, Thunderbird, Foxit Reader, Glary Utilities, CCleaner, VLC. Ashampoo Optimiser, Revo Uninstaller---- and I am looking for more.  This is in addition to saving document files, music and images on the Card and to Cloud storage.  The programs seem to to launch and run from the Card much the same as from the HDD.
    2. I have been rather addicted to browsing the Store and installing apps but I going to have to restrain myself now. It is not an appropriate addiction for someone with a 32GB Windows Tablet. Instead if I am looking for new apps I am going to browse the websites which specialise in portable apps which can go on the Card or if need be on Flash Drives---- there are several of them and hundreds of apps, with more becoming available.
    3. Yesterday I uninstalled Microsoft Office (which came free with the Tablet).  I dont use it,  and anyway I can use the free online version if I want to.  I was pleased to find Microsoft offers an uninstaller wizard for removing Office.  However, so far it does not seem to have saved as much storage space as I expected.  

    4.  I am starting to look at what role compressing (such as zipping) can play, though for me I suspect it will be fairly.

    My technical know-how is very limited but I hope my experiences will be of some interest.  I welcome other suggestions for how I might continue.  As some contributors have mentioned, hopefully the advent of Windows 10 could change the situation considerably.

    Memory is not the same as free space - the error msg either relates to low memory or Disk space the two are completely different.

    Win8 tablets with 32 or 64gb C: drive are designed for a specific purpose, they are not designed as laptop replacements, where the device has a ***gb drive
